Default L@@king for Opinions on Buying a Mattress (Bed)

I'm getting ready to buy a new bed. If you have bought a Quality Mattress in the last 5 years, and you are really happy with your purchase...

I would like to hear what brand and model you bought. I am capping the price at $2000

I have been doing some extensive Google searches, but it seems most reviews are sponsor related.

You can get them on garage sales..heh

I suggest you go to a local high end mattress store and check the beds out there. Find the ones that are comfortable to you as EVERYONE has a different taste of what IS in fact comfortable.

You can buy temper pedic mattresses on ebay. I am not sure how good they are but my friend had bought one before and he said it's VERY comfortable.

BEFORE you purchase from a mattress store, check two or three other stores. They might have them at an even cheaper price. Sometimes they even sell them on ebay. You might want to check small furniture stores....Chinese mattresses not that bad.

I actually sleep on an unbranded mattress bought at a local store...

Now - it's not that bad, but you know, some people just go for the "BRAND."

go for a memory foam mattress like tempur, but it doesnt have to be branded, would cost less that way.

What is it with U.S and queen size beds, thought everything was meant to be bigger over there...everywhere Ive stayed, so tiny for 2....

PS burning sleeps in the manger in a barn with mirrors on the ceiling.

...Jesus!

Seriously though, tempur pedic is nice - Serta Posturepedic is also a high quality sleep. You do need to test it out to feel.

I sleep like a baby using just a tempur pedic pillow and spring mattress, imagine how comfortable it would be to have a whole tempur pedic bed!

Try a latex foam mattress (NOT MEMORY FOAM) before you buy anything. You will thank me .

UPDATE:

Yesterday we went to about 10 mattress stores and looked and tried about everything.

We decided on a Vera Wang (Anniversary Model) made by Serta. It was $719.07 out the door. Buying a bed is a lot like buying a car...NEVER PAY sticker price, they will negotiate.

Will be delivered on Sunday!

I would NEVER EVER own a used mattress.

It even bothers me when I have to stay at a hotel on the rare occasion.

There are just some things that have to be purchased New.

a good one is actually a traditional Japanese futon. It keeps your back straight and make you stronger.

Plus... it has really pretty design =)

we have a Sterns and Foster California King. $1400.00 new. Feels like your sleeping in a new mothers arms sucking on a teet!

You can't go wrong with this. Considering you spend a third of your life sleeping. A good matteress is well worth the investment. A bad matteress can RUIN your back.
