hmm you guys are making me feel bad!, but I dont think I can have it in the main indoors, as allergies run in the family and I have a feeling mini will be the same, thats why we cant really have indoor pets (well we have an aquarium) plus I dont really like pet smells or mess in my house. Ive always thought animals belong outdoors and free, my relatives have a farm and the dogs and cats and chickens and rabbits , all have their own little smelly homes they go to when they want..I will take the vets advice anyway, but I could put a portable radiator in the outhouse, it has electricity, Ive put a bed there already and it (not sure if its boy or girl) is sleeping there sometimes, I think...

Im already looking online for a cheap pet carrier for it, honesty, this thing turns up and starts costing me money!

As for attention, it has plenty of attention from mini, yes it is a nice cat, it has had toys thrown at it, been run over by the scooter and its tail pulled and it hasnt freaked out..yet..

tuna - no good, ok noted, I havent been buying that filth they call cat food, Ive bought it turkey sandwich slices and it has leftovers, like chicken skin etc..
is that ok?

Buy cat food for the cat, shoudn't cost you more than a couple of bucks. I feel sorry for the cat...

Cats may be one of the cleanest animals you can have, they are litter trained and learn very fast. Also, in regards to allergies, I used to be allergic to furry animals such as cats but I found out after I got them that I had no allergic reactions....

You might want to get it checked by a vet...usually free of charge for diagnostics to see whats wrong with the animal..

MadSam 10-03-2010 03:07 PM

Did you get the cat checked out oompa? Has it got a new home with you now?

oompaloompa 10-04-2010 01:47 PM

ok, went to vet today, cat is ok around a year old, a tom. I have been given a basic schedule of jabs etc.

vet thinks it was previously owned and either had collar removed accidentally or deliberately, as born in wild strays are rare, its not been chipped.

vet thinks it should live indoors, at least at night, so I am still thinking over how to organise it.

I adopted a stray cat from a crazy lady earlier this year, she has over 50! He was a pest for the first 3 night, singing all night long as he had been outside for a while I think. He eventually settled really well and is the best, bit strange, very lazy and possibly part sheep going by his huge curly coat!
We don't have bad winters here so there are plenty of strays around that survive fine through the winter outside. Cats are very adaptable and are suited very well as strays. They cope just fine.
I live in an apartment and he is happy inside all the time (possibly cos the lazy git sleeps all day) and very clean but I do think they need a bit of outside, I have 2 balconies and he loves to sleep on the wall outside and watch the bats at night, too lazy to get up and try to catch them though.
They don't smell bad(well his breath does) as long as you keep litter box clean or let him outside to do his business. They clean themselves all the time so never get dirty and smelly.
You couldn't get a better pet in my opinion and he will show you plenty of love and require nothing more than a bit of attention and some food.
Mine sleeps on the bed next to me, head on pillow, never a sound unless he gets up in the night for some football practice. Wakes me in the morning, though just so I will feed him I think.
You should definitely keep him, you will not regret it, I keep wanting to bring the local strays home, there is a cool one up the road from me that stops the cars to get attention and miaows so loud that you can't walk past and ignore him!
Give him a chance and I am sure you will never want him to go, he will grow on you as their character's are superb. You will see, he will be no trouble.
Get a few toys, balls are good as they will amuse themselves for hours.
Good luck and hope he makes you happy, I know mine makes me very happy. It's very calming to sit and stroke them and I needed calming quite often, lol. Very useful for a bad day of paypal grief!

oompaloompa 10-04-2010 02:57 PM

I am keeping him, definately, if he wants to stay.....its where his bed is thats the problem. Anywhere near my bed - hell no.

you need to adopt that miaow in the road one, he sounds like mine... has habit of sitting in the road until one mili-second before a car hits him...and now he is running in front of my car as I drive through gate, and Im like did I squash it or didnt I?....we may be having a funeral soon for pizza cat...

My last cat died in a car accident after I let him out. :(

I have a hymalian cat now...paid $350 for this annoying thingy but is super adorable...

Btw, cat's love to sleep on the floor, I can't get my cat to sleep on my bed. Don't know why, but I bought it a bed from a pet store and it never used it. Had to return the god damn bed I bought for $30!

oompaloompa 10-04-2010 04:31 PM

burning, your cat was driving a car? wow

ok names please, its a boy, and it has to be centred around fufu, which is minis drool name for it

Fugley is favourite so far

revskank 10-04-2010 04:33 PM

I am trying to persuade my better half to let me bring the cat home, she already tells me off for letting Jules(my half sheep monster cat) sleep on the bed, so talks may go on for a while, lol. She did say if I find a hymalian I don't have to ask to bring that one home!
I will have my cat army soon and then the world is mine!
FuFu in Maltese means hairy chest. hahahaha!

Well..that would be literally impossible.

I meant that I let her outside since she meows at the door if I don't. The cat usually came back within thirty minutes to an hour, but that time it didn't come for a couple of hours and I started to get worried.

I waited a day, threw some cat treats in the front and back door so she'd find her way back home. In the end, I had to post signs all over and it end's up that the cat got killed by a crazy speeding driver on the other street. Poor cat...:(

oompaloompa 10-04-2010 05:03 PM

oh sorry about your cat, was it rsot and pod, racing in their pimp-mobiles on the other street that did it....

seriously fufu means hairy chest?

then fufu it will remain then......I like a hairy beast

jeffweico 10-05-2010 12:16 AM

Oompa, you won't regret it.

Cats are VERY LOVING creatures.

Good Karma all around.

I'M SO HAPPY FOR FUFU!!!

First Edition 10-05-2010 12:22 AM

Fufu doesn't sound like the name of a kitten we're going to cram in a jar....

how about Bruiser?

aspkin 10-05-2010 01:41 AM

We had a cat once, it had a name but like all pets of mine I just called it what it was, kitty. :)

Whats with greanbean trademarking all her names!

Now...let's not become like johnson and pham...:fight:

zmajns 10-06-2010 07:14 AM

One advice, actually two. First don't let kids bother it too much, as cats have proved to be much less tolerant then dogs, and it can be quite serious. Second, since its a male, it will wonder off from time to time, don't be upset, they usually come back. I have 2 cats, but both are female, since we have mice, lizards, snakes and rats, and females are much better hunters. Altough the two dogs (stafford terriers) usually take care of rats and bigger stuff

rsot 10-06-2010 09:47 AM

Gratz on the new family member ha
