| | | imthatguy | 11-27-2010 07:49 PM | Better stop selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ now. FBI devoting all their time to it now |
| jeffweico | 11-27-2010 08:01 PM | I agree that people should not sell counterfeits.
Having said that, I typed this domain name into Google and came up with over FIVE MILLION references. There were posts all over the internet regarding the legitimacy of their products, which were priced VERY CHEAP. Given the little that I saw, your friend must have been moving THOUSANDS of bootleg DVD box sets.
Why did he choose his domain name? Was the domain name BuyCounterfeitDVDs.com not available? :pound: |
| doughboykilla | 11-27-2010 08:04 PM | Your 99% more likely to get caught selling them through a website then u are on ebay.
I see websites come and go all the time who sell bootlegs. |
| imthatguy | 11-27-2010 08:12 PM | |
| jbluntz | 11-27-2010 08:21 PM | It's just a holiday sweep, they'll all be back up and running in Jan. I bet. |
| NYCLiz | 11-27-2010 08:30 PM | Why is it that hundreds of Chinese people (and a purposely shady looking black dude selling Rolex for $50) can get away with it here in NYC, in person, on the street, almost daily......but they go after people on the internet?
Every once in a while they have a token bust in Chinatown and they all shut down til they are sure the cops are gone.
I swear, it's almost like they ignore it because the tourists like it. ....or maybe NYPD is too busy busting innocent women for not having locally bought pepper spray. (Gotta have priorities, right?) |
| lagoonclub | 11-27-2010 08:34 PM | You can still def find knock offs in NYC. Although, after a few large token busts, it isn't as easy as it was in 2006. |
| cardfelon | 11-27-2010 08:35 PM | Well if you are running a website selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ dvds then you are going to get busted. You might as well send some to the FBI with your info if you plan on being that bold in selling them. |
| jbluntz | 11-27-2010 08:39 PM | And when I was there they sold ⊗⊗⊗⊗ rolexes right out in the open in times square, this 1 guy had about 30 of em laid out on a table just down the street from Macy's. |
| waterproof | 11-27-2010 08:41 PM | Even though I do not sell such items, thank you for posting to fill us all in on the latest! It's nice to know reguardless.
Thanks!

They are serious. I would think selling drugs would be less greif then bootlegs. |
| NYCLiz | 11-27-2010 10:12 PM | There are hoods here that have nothing but knockoffs. Even some full time stores have them, they just do almost nothing about it here. We would have to shut down Chinatown basically (plus the street fairs and a few other places) if they ever decided to enforce it. I wonder if the city just lets it go because we cannot afford to support Chinatown. hmmmm Quote:

| Red X | 11-27-2010 11:35 PM | This is scary, hopefully this opens up some peoples eyes, it surely did for me. Thanks! |
| jamblix | 11-28-2010 07:36 AM | Way too greedy imo. I'll bet he was moving lots of DVDs through that website, but now look what happened, so not worth it. |
| nobody999 | 11-28-2010 02:17 PM | i really think it is partially for tourism....everyone knows what is being sold on canal st. Quote:

| holymoly | 12-04-2010 05:50 PM | Putting up a website like that is problem UNLESS you have hosting in other countries without or that will ignore copyright laws....that is the only way to really do it. Then they can't do anything to you (99% of the time). There is more to do beyond just a DEDI SERVER of course...but my point is made. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:05 PM. | |
