| | | Atomic | 12-08-2010 05:23 PM | Hackers have taken down Visa.com Internet hacktivists have now taken down Visa.com in retaliation for it closing business with Wikileaks. The hacktivists took down Mastercard.com earlier and have plans to take down Amazon and Paypal as well.
This is the first internet war.
Thoughts? |
| GreenBean | 12-08-2010 05:32 PM | Exactly WHAT has this to do with ebay?
:thumb: Moved at request of OP |
Green Bean is the only war machine you have to worry about here ha |
| Atomic | 12-08-2010 05:38 PM | I wonder how long paypal would stay offline :( |
| inthezone | 12-08-2010 06:20 PM | Damn! should we withdraw our money from PP or what? :D |
They are just attacking the sites. Not the services. Silly childish waste of time for attention is all |
| inthezone | 12-08-2010 06:36 PM | No, I mean like what if we can't access the site for a long time? |
They already did paypal. So should be ok. Think they are after Master Card now. Its nothing more then a nuisance attack |
| Markk | 12-08-2010 07:52 PM | I support wikileaks and am pleased to see these sites under attack as it sends a strong message. |
| holymoly | 12-08-2010 07:52 PM | hahaha, well it nice to throw rocks at the tanks of economy every now and again...
Don't call it childish nonetheless...the motive and things they stand for (in their opinion are right), and it's not like you can do anything else really, right? |

| Imback2010 | 12-08-2010 08:18 PM | Yes i Support wiki leaks also!
Peolple Should know the truth..Even if they cant handle it... |
| First Edition | 12-08-2010 09:31 PM | What's that guy wanted for again? rape? or something.... |
| holymoly | 12-08-2010 09:34 PM | What probably happened is it was consensual...like Kobe. (yes everyone...FLAME ON!) and saw he was famous, so now this chick filed for sexual assault charges. Quote:

:thumb: Moved at request of OP | Because PP was affected by the SAME hackers... |
| First Edition | 12-08-2010 09:40 PM | There are LOTS of famous people that never get accused of rape.... Tiger Woods, for example. |
| MadSam | 12-08-2010 09:50 PM | The charges aren't rape, some charges of indecency filed by several different women... I believe one of them was asleep at the time...
I passed some of the protests about it where he was held on remand in London, most people were just there to see some of the celebrities that came to try and put up the bail money for him.
I believe strongly in Freedom of Information and freedom of speech, the thing is I don't think WikiLeaks is much more than a stunt. |
| Imback2010 | 12-08-2010 09:55 PM | Thanks for clearing that up!
Bu tin the states he was front page big bold letters on the front page... RAPE...lol
I'm going to look into wikileaks and see if its worth it |
| uk_making_chatters_disapp | 12-08-2010 10:04 PM | Yeh baby Now what paypal really needs is a "denial of service attack" **** yeah lol |
| First Edition | 12-08-2010 10:13 PM | They do that enough on their own.... |

No it doesn't. A dos attack is just kicking and screaming. No statement at all. Again, not a comment on the cause, I have no opinion on that. Just a comment on attacks | I think it does; the attacks resulted in dozens of news articles read by people who probably won't know what a DDOS attack is and see a much greater issue than kicking and screaming. It would depend on the individual who reads those articles as to what statement they see depending on their perspective. You don't see a statement and I understand that. |

(I'll take rape charges if I get to bang 13+ hot/semi-hot women AT ONCE!) |
| missinglink | 12-09-2010 05:33 AM | I couldnt use mastercard yesterday because of it, I needed some tickets quickly, and today I have to go to the box office to get them instead, I am annoyed as it will take about 3 hours out of my day to get there.....plus why are these wiki people giving out sensitive addresses anyhow, what is the point, the bad guys probably already know them, but random idiots that want to cause trouble can now have access to that info too...and what good has it done, what freedom is that exactly, freedom for who exactly? ordinary citizens want national security |

My understanding was it didnt effect purchases at all. Maybe it did | Yeah, I see where your coming from and somewhat agree.
I tried using a mastercard yesterday but I didn't work; don't know if it had something to do with the attacks or not. |
| MadSam | 12-09-2010 09:12 PM | ^^^^^^^^^ Many online transaction processing was down for MasterCard, but that was the only service side affected. I tried using MC online as well and it didn't work so I had to use Visa which did. You should still be able to use MC in the store though. |

Take a look at a neg I got on amazon, LOL
1 out of 5: "Not doing business with Amazon until they bring back Wikileaks site."

| MadSam | 12-11-2010 09:51 PM | ^^^ Buyers on Amazon have no way of knowing if you were banned or not even if they look at your store front and see no listings. |
