Who still has a 9-5

Who here on the forums started selling on ebay and it became such a good venture that you started making way more then your normal 9 to 5?

stevesokol21 02-12-2011 04:37 AM

i did when i was 19 and going to school. i was makin 9.25 an hour workin 35 hours a week and goin to school. i started on ebay as a joke with my friends since they said i could do something like that. i started on there and it took off. a year later i was making 6 figures. that went well for years until the economy took a ****. went back to work for a year and now i am back on full time for now. not making the money i once was but its nice to be back. gf wants me to get a job tho and im just not sure about that since i dont know anything else other then ebay.

ill prolly be doing this **** my whole life. im 27 now and i couldnt imagine going to wrk fulltime when i can make more online and jerk around for most of my day and do what i want. call me lazy or call me lucky or call me what you want. this is what i know... ebay + easier life (as long as its treating you right and not banning you for stupid ****)

I admire all of you guys specially if you have a realiable supplier. I'm still young and not very lucky and fortunate as many of you are but I am hoping to get there soon!
I will continue my search with hard work and dedication.
I've been absent from the forum for about 3 months and basically used all my savings. Still no 9-5 though but i've been struggling due to this economy and almost see myself there if I don't get back up soon.

menaice 02-13-2011 10:11 AM

i still have my regular job as an IT Tech but I HOPE... that within 6 months i can go full on with ebay and make it my main source of income, put the money away for bills and savings

Red X 02-13-2011 10:55 AM

The money is good, but the addiction is not. I actually just now started turning down lots of money due to the computer bringing me lots of health issues that will stay with me for the rest of my life. The money is good, but health is more important, so i am slowing moving away from all of this, it is really hard when you have a computer addiction, people wouldn't understand it until they have this addiction. I am going to find me a job, and make money other ways, hopefully i'll have all of this done by springtime.

siccspitz 02-18-2011 04:26 AM

pays 2.5k per month

i do side ebay collecting change here and there.
Im looking for sources to start selling big wholesale or discount prices but no one will sell their nest eggs.

so im stuck for a while :/

rsot 02-18-2011 10:13 AM

i work 9-5 and consult for a diff thing pretty late at night - do eb ay on the side. Pretty tight for time but hey, eb ay + am az on is kind of fun - brings extra revenue.

BooMer 02-18-2011 12:08 PM

I need another job that interacts with people face to face. Selling on ebay at home can get boring every now and then. Anybody hiring? LOL

cardfelon 02-18-2011 01:41 PM

I have a regular 9-5 that pays really really well. Luckily my employer still offers matching 401K up to 25k a year so I have been putting that much in for retirement. Its like a 25k yearly pay raise! I still have some take home and then all the extra from Ebay and Amazon. Sure I could stay at home and easily pull in 100k a year online but I would get bored pretty quickly!

beaches 02-18-2011 01:54 PM

11 years no 9-5 here!

rsot 02-18-2011 02:49 PM

Right on cardo - Exactly.

^^

good luck

im still stuck with my job

Axcend 02-19-2011 01:10 PM

8-5 mon-fri for me, plus school yeah round. I have big dreams and in reality amazon takes up little time every day, even managing 5 accounts. Drop my packages off during my lunch break, just prepay all the shipping so I just leave em on the counter, still have time afterwards to go lay on the beach for 20 mins before back to work haha

sax4 02-20-2011 08:27 PM

Amazon is the way forward, lower maintenance, higher margins if you think outside the box.

I'm working full-time online, but to be honest i'm considering returning to a 9-5 of some description. Maybe I will do something I actually enjoy for lower money this time, and do my online stuff as an additional income. I miss interacting with people face to face, and it's nice to know you will get paid which is more than can be said for the likes of Paypal.

I still hope one day to be like Tim Ferriss author of 'The Four Hour Work Week' :D

Imback2010 02-22-2011 07:33 PM

Just wanted to say the forum saved me from going totally broke i lost unemployment 1 year ago and since then Ive been paying bills and everything with ebay/CL sales

So good luck Everyone I know i need it....lol

LadyLover 03-04-2011 10:30 PM

Im in school full-time for Graphic Design and I work part-time retail (sucks) but I was making a little bit here and there off of ebay? I hope to start making some good bucks off ebay but if not then I just may start selling "work" like some of my peers that $3000 minimum a week.

Recherché 03-06-2011 12:30 AM

I started selling online about 4 years ago. Three years ago I voluntarily quit my job with severance package. Haven't looked back since although there were months were I didn't think I'd be able to pay bills. Have been able to pull through. I can't fathom going back to work for someone else.

My Story

I was working a 9-5, until i broke my knee and was on bed rest for a month. Broke my knee in 2 places, funny thing it was the best night i ever had LMAO! I was sooooo chit faced! Lmao!

That same month, i started on ebay 4 days later. That month i profit 3.5k. I was Hooked!

The pain meds really paid off, i do better research while on meds. Anyways, 3 years later im still eBayin And now came to love Amazon!

Amazon helps out alot. When paypal gets limited geuss what.....Amazon still rolling.

My best advise for people is this....Think outside the box And get creative. Make a game plan, set small goals that can be reached.

Remember, the income you can make online is always limitless (Regardless)

It is what you put into it.

mdiva901 04-06-2011 04:34 PM

I still working a 9-5, but hope one day to be able to do ebay and amazon full-time.

ets 04-06-2011 04:41 PM

gosh I started selling on ebay when I had nothing.. absolutely nothing.. I was pregnant doing a Masters and had no job. I had a designer dress I bought for £37 in the sale. I went on ebay and sold it for £120 buy it now.. the rest is history.. I've completed my MBA, had my baby and is still home nurturing her until she's three and EBAYING ALL THE WAY! I won't do office work anymore unless if its consulting... I havent made the money in an office that I've made on ebay! Ebay sucks though... too much stress and aggravation from moaning customers, but good money

sax4 04-06-2011 05:17 PM

Ebay is a lot of stress, it totally consumes you. I'm doing better on Amazon these days, its a lot lower maintenance, and margins are bigger if you play your cards right. Saying that it's easier to get started with Ebay, so I have a few Ebay accounts on the go

Saying that I do freelance sales and marketing from home and abroad at the moment, need the cash stimulus until my Amazon accounts are in good standing.

bballaw1 04-06-2011 05:19 PM

Ebay has actually been my get away of sorts. Ive been a stay at home mom for a year now and the first few months I went crazy with having nothing to do and no money of my own. My boredom lead to research and I found my slice of the pie on ebay and have been happily making extra money for a good 6 months now...

I agree with the stress of ebay but I am so glad I have everyone to help me kick butt on there!

Gman91189 04-07-2011 11:20 PM

I hate ebay but prolly the best thing that happned to alot of ppl including myself..
went from homeless. sellin drugs on the corner.. to be able to get back on my feet, engaged to the most precious woman on earth,
still working a 8-2 more like it.. but got a car, nice tv, touchscreen pc, and now.. looking to buy a house.. and get my fiancee to start doin this full time :)

Alps_a somewhatlegend 04-08-2011 01:31 AM

'selling drugs on the corner'..... oh my!

Been there but did it from comfort of my own home years and years and years ago when it all was top quality.... then someone told me to look into eb and I did and since then there has been no need for me to do bad things - thanks eb and Alex and Imran (for letting me know that I dont have to do bad thing to get by in life).....

..... unfortunatley I didnt get a pretty lady at the end of it, but I got a good lookin' dog - had to pay for it though! :)

Saying all that, I have had banging jobs. The best was when I was working for a TV station, editing the news everyday for everyone to watch in the mornings and evenings - also transmitting all programs.

I was known as 'The News King' because I was so good. I am from UK and had U.S. ringing me regular asking if I could send them a copy of my edited news so they could play it there - I'd press a few buttons, adjust the satellite and send away - 1st time they rang they said 'we have heard about you' - I was chuffed coz I was only a young lad.

I actually worked things out there so that I had things on an automated system. I should have been in the office from 6am - 7pm, but I set things up so I was there for only 1.5 hours max a day! - and they called me the news king... hmmmm... more like 'get in and out as fast as you can' king.

No job for me these days as I like to work from home and dont really like being told what to do by some ignorant boss and co-workers. I got too much to offer and am priceless as far as I am concerned, especially for money hungry companies - I like helping homeless and old people so maybe when I 'grow up' a bit, I might do charity work coz I got lots too offer there.
