We are coming up on the summer slump. Sales always fall in the summertime. They start picking up right before September and then hit a high in December.

January is the pits. February - May is not usually too bad, but this year has been slow for me.

Of course, the economy isn't exacly helping matters. If we are not in a depression, it is close. As close as any of us have ever seen or are likely to see, anyway. The good news is, these things don't last forever.

Also, spread out to new e-commerce sites. This pays off quite well if you have time to put in the work.

I would add that it pays to diversify your product line.

Yeah as jeffweico states sales can really diminish in summer but thats to be expected.

I find here in the UK ebay activity and bidding seems to be very sensitive to weather - for instance if we have a really hot summer so people are always out and not on their computers then my sales tend to be real slow.

something else that can happen, especially if you only have a few products: sometimes people put things up cheaper than you.

even if they only sell a few, it can put a dent in your sales until they run out of product and their listing goes away.

i have about 200 items running right now, most are slow sellers. there are 5 that are my big volume, i have to watch them carefully to match or beat prices or i can lose a big chunk of my sales, especially on a sunday night (which seems to be my biggest day every week)

Sundays are always good for sales. Mondays are probably the second best day. Fridays would be the third, specifically Friday nights. Probably from people spending their paychecks.

I have also noticed that the beginning of the month is much better for sales than the end of the month. I think that has to do with people who get retirement or disability checks from social security and/or pensions (pensions, from what I have seen, tend to pay out the first week of the month).

Tuesdays and Saturdays are my slowest days.

Of course, there are exceptions. Holiday weekends tend to be slow. And the 2 weeks leading up to Mother's Day and Father's day are usually pretty good all week.

My cat wants me to open an ice cream store... He tells me it will help me to make more money in the summer...

I usually have around 200 listings in ebay and amazon together per month. I noticed that if My amazon sold more that day, and my ebay would sold less than amazon that day. It is weird to me because I do not think these two market places can reflect to each other. Anyway, sell seems pick up since this morning. I am happy

From a sample of 200 listings from one seller, it would be impossible to prove anything statistically. The sample is just too small. But it is entirely possible that each marketplace might do better on different days for some reason.

That would be a very interesting study. But we could never get the daily sales data for either site.

ANd it could turn out to just be coincidence.

Mine have been pretty slow lately too. Granted I'm not a huge seller on Amazon yet because I've been busy with other stuff, but it seems like this year is still a lot slower than others.

Also Jeff, thanks for your take on best times of the year/month/week to sell. That was something I'd actually been meaning to ask about.
