Quick Question: Does it matter if a package arrives at US CUSTOMS on a weekend? or weekday? In my mind I feel that if package arrives on weekend it might get checked more than a package arriving on a weekday. Don't ask how I came to this thought, but it's something I've been wondering. Anyone have a thought on this subject.

You will probably get conflicting answers on this, but I don't think it really matters.

The bottom line is that they can pull any package they like for inspection any time they want to. Most checks seem to be random.

Then, there are the "crackdowns" where they pull every package that lands in a certain period of time and insepct all of them.

In both cases, if the items are illegal they will be seized. If the items are OK, they will be delayed. That delay can last up to 7 days (legally, they can hold any package for 30 days, but I have never had more than a 7 day delay).

Seizures are way up in the last couple of years as the government is cracking down on counterfeits. Just google "Operation In Our Sights".
