i have a standard core 2 quad. it fast and does what i need it to do. wouldnt mind a I7 though.

Your system is more then enough for simple tasks. In fact a first generation i7 quad or dual core are not much faster then the older Core 2 quads or dual core. The 45nm Core 2 quads can be overclocked to 40% easily but you'll have to raise the voltage a little bit to get it stable.

Its the second generation i7 quad or Sandy Bridges where performance is much better then your cpu. But your running simple tasks so its not worth the money to upgrade when you do simple tasks. Its not going to open web pages or anything faster, for that you would need to upgrade your hard drive to a SSD (solid state drive). It will load programs much faster them a mechanical drive.

Best part right now is that mechanical drives have increased in prices from the floods in Thailand but SSD prices have come down a lot more then normal.

Ok you guys you have got me jealous I donated my Sinclair ZX80 to the museum and went out and bought one of these super PC's

Got it of a mexican at the local flea market, told me it was top of the range in Mexico.

Heres the spec

386 SX25
512k ram
40Mb hard drive
64k vga card
mitsumi single speed cd rom
Full tower case
14" color IBM monitor

He said it would do all that I needed for a long time to come.

Yeah can get some real good rigs on eBay on for hella cheap now, and they'd run every top game on at least medium settings.

Its better to build your own with parts bought on EB. You can be proud of it and customize it like hell. New paint job, new lights.

Ebay had the tendency to overprice newer parts, and also parts that are one our two generations behind. You are better of buying new parts from newegg instead.

No I'd rather keep my 386 and I am saving up for mouse with no ball in it as mine gets fluff stuffed up there.
