I'm a huge gym fan, and i love nothing more than doing plyometric push ups, like the guy on the video below, the adrenaline rush you get doing these is crazy. I been doing it for about 2 years now myself.
Definitely have to be strong to do something like this. I'm pretty much only into working out. Started taking it really serious for the past year and now i can't go a day without lifting. Its addicting as hell once you start seeing results.
I've always done plyo pushups to but never anything like that just pushup claps with or without a medicine ball as part of a circuit routine. But yeah I know what your saying about the adreneline rush, that's what got me hooked on bodyweight/plyo workouts..
Also just starting doing some p90x in my my living room just for kix, the workouts are pretty intense and you can make do if you don't have any accessories just you and the floor is all you need..
The only rush I would get if I did these pylo pushups is a rush to hospital in an ambulance having a heart attack, not to mention the broken arms, legs, bad back and a hernia

Had 2 hernias. Ughhh that was annoying as hell. Got one, had to stop lifting for a while... started again... got another one... hopefully there is no more room for a 3rd one.
