Default weight bench or multi gym?

hey everyone

right i do not have much knowledge about weight benches and multi gyms. i have had dumbbells in the past and thats it. (sold them on ebay 2 years ago)

i am looking at getting back in shape

i have seen a multi gym for £300

Marcy*MWM1100 Multi Gym | Very.co.uk
(the link wont open correctly on my IE. works fine on my firefox though)

the reason i have chosen that one is i can get it on 'buy now pay 12 months'

i am going to start jogging each morning. try to eat healthy and get fit again and hopefully build some muscle

what would say about that multi gym? and would you get this or just a normal weight bench?

In my personal experience i always hated these. I wasted a $1000 on a bowflex and used it maybe 4 times. Got lucky and sold it and only lost $200 on it.

Dumbells and a bench that folds is ALL you need. I've been lifting in my room for the past 3 years with 3 sets up dumbells that go to up to 100 pounds each and i workout every part of my muscle with this equipment. From legs to shoulders. Im getting to the point where i actually need to sign up for a gym though.

The easiest way to to get in shape fast is p90x, you don't really need anything to start, maybe some pushup handles and an excercise band. But you get a full body workout plus plenty of cardio. It's real easy to just stick in the dvd and do it first thing in the morning in your socks. I do one in the morning then do one of the bonus cardio/plyo vids at night plus light workout at the gym. I'll be getting the insanity workout soon also.

theres that p90x thing again. lol. i have never heard of it till a few months ago on this forum. just looked at torrents for it and its there

i might download it and have a look. a lot of dvds though, theres 12 of them.

shurely a multi gym and jogging is 10x better than a dvd?

You'd be surprised how it isn't, bodyweight and plyos work way more muscles than just weight lifting and joggging. Depends on what you're trying to do, if you're trying to get big than weights would work, but if you want to get in shape p90x will do it way faster than just standard weightlifting and jogging, that's like a lazy man's workout compared to p90.

Yeah P90x is really a good workout system as I was very skeptical at first cause I dont fall into alot of the tv wonder type stuff. I use it every year about this time to get the best results for summer and then just do lots of cardio and bag work during the winter months. Its also nice cause of the simplicity of it and it can be done almost anywhere.

multigyms are a waste of money IMO unless you get a really good one which will set you back a good few grand

Just the way they work. Its just not the same. Ask ANY body builder in the world if he would recommend one of these things. I guarantee you EVERY single one of them will say no. I lift every single day. And i take it very serious. The gains i have gotten with dumbells within a year i would never ever acheive this with a multi gym.

These are just a waste of money to be honest. You will reach the max weight on it within couple months.... then what... u have no use for it. I promise you dumbells are the way to go, or sign up to a real gym. Thats what i need to do. My dumbells are running out of room for extra weight.

I would post pics of what i have achieved in my small ass room with dumbells and a foldable bench but you guys would just get jealous

ok, i downloaded a few of the dvds last night. 1 question though. do i do all of these dvds? like one a day and then repeat them once i have been through them all? or do i just do 1 or 2 of them?

i have

P90X.DISC.01.Chest.Back
P90X.DISC.02.Plyometrics
P90X.DISC.03.Shoulders.Arms
P90X.DISC.04.Yoga.X
P90X.DISC.05.Legs.And.Back
P90X.DISC.06.Kenpo.X
P90X.DISC.07.X.Stretch
P90X.DISC.08.Core.Synergistics
P90X.DISC.09.Chest.Shoulders
P90X.DISC.10.Back.Biceps
P90X.DISC.11.Cardio.X
P90X.DISC.12.Ab.Ripper

but do i just work my way through them all? or what?

If you bought the physical box it comes with workout plan and meal plan along with recipes theres like 3 different levels, me I'm already in shape just doing it for ease of use and the fun of it, but still keeps me in way better shape than the gym, I just go to the gym since I like working out in public, like showing off my stuff. But yeah you should be able to download the guides somewhere.

Also if you want a real simple diet to follow just get a meal replacement shake like shakeology, body by vi, prolean something like that

then drink 1 for beakfast 1 for for lunch, eat 2-3 snacks in between like some fruit then eat 1 low carb meal for dinner like chicken and vegetables

or even take out teriyaki without the rice works good to, some places have brown rice to substitue and that's it, you got 5-6 meals a day as simple as it get's..

Yeah that stuff's got 1,250 calories per serving, I don't think that's gonna help lose the beer belly lol but yeah if you want to get bulked up and have plenty of free weights than that would do it..
