Yeah some of these bums make a decent amount of money. I'm talking over minimum wage per week money working at a full time job. I know because I had a couple bum friends who I used to buy weed from, they told me everything. Not sure how much was true but, dude carried a roll that was at least a few hundred.

One said he got kicked out of his home by his dad when he turned 18 and been on his own ever since. Other was a middle aged guy that looked like a skinny version of Tommmy Chong. A hippie who probably chose the lifestyle of his own accord. I saw where they lived, in dirty ass tent down a canyon near a highway. It was pretty sad.

I don't know, it's not a big deal to give a couple bucks imo, they could use it more then me. Who cares if they buy alcohol or drugs, **** if I had no
home to live in and no girls to play with I'd want to get drunk and high too.

3 Years ago I met a young man about 19yrs old and he was in one my Computer classes. We were partnered to work on a big final project, he admitted to me he was homeless and didn't have a home or a PC to even work on. I felt compelled to help him, I gave him my spare room and about 9 months later he actually found an awesome job and now probably makes more than me. Sometimes some people can't help being homeless but I don't see why we should have too give money to some guy on a street corner that may or may not use the money for food or water, etc.

If I see a homeless person I will give them food or water/soda but I will not give money.

Ask any homeless person on the street to sing or say something in a radio voice for you.

Then record it, post it online on Youtube.
And with God's grace, he/she can turn into the next Ted Williams success story.
You'd have made a difference in his/her life!

Look at him now, his life has literally changed overnight!

The thought that one day I could be in that position - no, money, nowhere to live, no food, no future - would frighten me to death. I cannot help it - when I see someone like that I have to try and do a little. I think I'll offer the coffee and a sandwich next time - just to see what happens.

It's a cruel world out there

Yeah grannyt it could happen to any of us - we take our lifes for granted far too much - i think we should put ourselfs in their positions more often we'd be much grateful and better people for it.

We complain about the smallest luxuries..... kind of sad what have we truly become in all seriousness...

Lol at people saying to give bums food and water, where are you living? Bums in the US can find food and water for free easily. Seriously you guys think being a bum in the US is so terrible?

Here's a reality check, there are 6 year old kids, boys and girls in Thailand having sex with grown men for money to survive on the streets. Abandoned by their parents or hell even sold by the parents themselves.

Millions of people starve to death in North Korea every year with wide power outages, the worst parts of Africa are infested with AIDs and some places you can't even drink the water. Meanwhile in Sudan people are getting raped, murdered and the northern Islamic government is committing genocide against Christians. The country of Somalia is run by pirates and warlords, no economy to speak of besides drugs and the black market. How do you think the homeless live in these countries? They don't live, they die.

Sitting on a sidewalk with a sign on your lap while people give you money and a bench to sleep on ain't so bad...
