smacking? anyone with kids?
 

mini almost 3 has bitten another child, I told them it was first time, but she has bitten me a few times at home, she got a smack for it, cos it bloody hurt, she likes getting smacked and laughs....do I have sociopath on my hands, any experience on how to discipline...

we have rug called 'naughty circle', but runs away, takes all day keep putting her back, need something quicker. Does not care if I take toys away....says 'don't care'

She LIKES geting smacked? Wow. I never heard that one before.

I never got hit by my parents luckily... my father let me get away with murder but my mother would just give me a look with her eyes that would just scare the crap out of me, and I could tell that she would have beaten me to within an inch of my life had I continued doing whatever it was. That in itself was enough. She would do it even if I tried to take a sweet from somebod for example (even shopkeepers and friends of hers) if they offered me one... and I would stop right in my tracks, in my attempt to take it and eat it.

She is probably biting out of frustration.
Do you let her know that it hurts when she bites you?
Perhaps start crying, or make it known and say ' NO BITING'
I have heard this works for a few people.

yeah, I smacked her and she laughed and said 'again', maybe i did it too soft, anyway I do not like the idea of hurting her deliberately, seems a bad way of telling someone not to hurt others...

I locked her in her room, last week, because she flung a plate of food across the room, but she kicked and pulled the door so much I let her out..

she is very sweet most of the time but when she is bad, she is hard to control

smacking is pointless man

u have to show authority...smacking does not do that

yes, my little baby is 2&half yeasl old. SHE is naughty and im telling you she is, her mother doesn't like it, but me as a man i LLLOOOVVVEEE IT.

My daughter knows that she really needs to push my buttons to get "spanked" on the booty. I have a similar type of thing as you oompa, only I make my daughter sit at the stairs that lead to our den and I have her sit there till she gets her act together.

As a young lad my momma would really give me a major spanking....but the biggest fear was getting spanked by dad which had the power of a train!

Bite her back let it hurt (to a degree) and let her cry.

My son tried that, Bit him back on the arm. He looked at me like I sprouted an extra head that looked like the green goblin, didnt cry though, as I didnt do it hard. Needless to say, he stopped and if he gets out of line, I just give him the glare of doom. End of whatever he was doing.

Be sure to address it though.

I still remember when I was 7 or 8 yrs old, I stuck my tongue out at my Mom while her back to me...2 seconds later she said "I SAW THAT". I ran for my room and hid in the closet and had the following look: :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:. For weeks I was convinced that she had eye(s) in the back of her head.

With my parents, our Da was away on active duty all the time.

My Ma was THE boss.

She had a table tennis bat AND an ironing cord for obedience.

Brothers hated the sight of them.

First time Ma gave me the bat I told her I would lay her out if she ever touched me again.

You need to reinforce good behavior, and with bad behavior a consequence like time out by herself in a room with nothing to play with, or like as GTB said a toy taken away. It is never too late to start behavior modification but it is very important to stick with the plan.

Restraint, Plain and simple,,You have the Right idea, with your "'naughty circle" or Room Locking,,,but Real Naughty children sometimes need to 'Feel" Restrained, Try Tying her in the room with the door wide open,,,if that does not get the desired response, make the surroundings and/or time restrained progressively worse, another room, the basement, Outside, 10 min, 20, 1 hour,,a Little Hard to Ignore the Screams,,Pleas,,Crying,,ect, ect,,but they DO Learn,,

You can get some "Padded" Handcuffs that will not hurt the child no matter how hard she tugs on them,, and as a Fringe Benifit when you are not adjusting the Childs attitude, you can "Adjust" someone else's

My father gave my brother MANY "attitude adjustment lessons, once he Handcuffed him to the Porch in his undies and Bare Feet for 2 Min In a BLIZZARD,,He Learned MORE about behavior in those 2 Min than in his entire Life (8 Years old at the time)

if my 3 yr old senses for 1 second i am lightly telling him off he will just pull faces to try make me laugh

9 times out of 10 he gets me....i am a sucka for it
