My question is how did I get an infection in my knee??? Nothing has ever been in there lol

No accident. I have had the loose body in my knee since I was younger, maybe 8 years ago. It would only bother me when it surfaced which was rarely so the docs said to just leave it. I just woke up with pain a little over 2 weeks ago and it got progressively worse.
