Are You A Hustler????

Theres a lot of smart business minded people in this forum....I know it will never happen but I bet if we all came together we would not only be millionaires in a few months but would be a strong force to deal with. I have a pretty good job but im here for the same reason you all are here and that reason is, we like to be our own boss and can make more money sitting at home on our laptops. We dont like to work for other people. We are all natural born hustlers. I knew I was a hustler because at age 5 I sold milk to a cow lol I have 2 questions for you; What age did u first sell something? What was the product you sold? I was age 8, I sold pogs and slammers I dont know if any of yall remember that lol Used to be popular game lol

aspkin 02-23-2013 02:56 AM

I wouldn't consider myself a hustler but when I see opportunities I take them.

When certain clubs at my school would come around with boxes of candy to sell -- guess who went to Costco and loaded up on the same candy for a lowered price? It wasn't a lot of money but a nice experiment as my candy was cheaper and people appreciated that.

Years later I mowed yards in my neighborhood. We made business cards, went door to door and became good at closing deals on repeat business. I had clients at 12 years old. Again I had to fight against my competition (my older brother) but it's all a learning experience.

Now I'm all about automation (automating tasks), delegation and elimination (80/20 stuff that doesn't work).

Right on boss man and boss lady (Aspkin & GreenBean)...I remember doing the lawn-mower thing too...I always tried to charge at least $20 bucks but they always talked me down to $15 lol At age 14-15...$15 dollars was a lot of money back then we didnt have all the high tech ipads and all that other stuff. Everything was pretty cheap and riding our bikes was considered fun but now kids just want to play their playstation games all day lol They dont know nothing about Atari lol I am number one worst player in the game of "Call of Duty" but I will spank that a$$ in Mario Bros lol

Sandy D 02-23-2013 04:25 AM

Two different types of hustlers.

1. Hustler who is hustling someone to rip them off.

2. One who take advantage of any opportunity that comes along to either make money honestly by being smart or and experienced or create an opportunity to put yourself in a good position to succeed.

I remember being in my teens and being the only girl at school who carried a 20.00 bill around all the time. When asked are your parents rich or something I said no, I make money buying and selling antiques and items people want. Heck I bought bikes off kids that were used badly and paid my older brother to spray paint them, clean it up and then re sold it to other kids.

Also made some money as a teen beating the boys at shooting free throws.
We would toss our money into a can and whoever made the most out of 100 got it all. I cleaned house doing this! Then they of course said no girls allowed. :pry:

On a dare once I picked up a 100.00 and then some when I was dared to go door to door selling Fuller Brush items. And if I sold 100.00 worth I would get 100.00 for it. This was 1982-83 range as a teen. I sold 1300.00 worth of that crap on one Saturday to people in area. ( was paid a % on the sales )

There is money laying around to be had if you are not lazy, willing to put in the effort, take some risk and use your head.

Re: Are You A Hustler????

I started off by buying items on Craigslist with friends and selling them on ebay ( back when it was like the wild wild west). I am the only one who still does it today. The old saying 't he early bird gets the worm' still rings true, especially with something like Craigslist. Thanks to aspkin I'm now starting my own site and hope to keep moving on up

my name says it all

That's the way to do it. Have automated systems that make you Passive Income even while on vacation.

Delegation of menial tasks is critical to your success. If you can make $50 hour doing a task, then pay someone $10 an hour for task that you don't make $50 an hour.

Upselling is critical. Repeat business and referrals.

I'm still waiting for the V.I.P. section. :suspicious:

When I was in High School I did several hustles:

1. Worked as a Gardener with a cousin during the Summer($80/day)

2. Collected Cans (about $150/week)

3. I went to the high school in the next City so I took the Bus, the school gave me Bus Tokens, I only needed 2 a day but they gave me 4.
I sold the extra tokens to people.

4. We would shake down other students in the Handball court, me and 2 other friend pretended not to know how to play and after loosing a few games, we would play for $$$.

Sandy D 02-23-2013 03:17 PM

Must have been BEER CANS. :pop2:

Now that I think back...probably was.

I use to save $17.50 per week in 9th grade. My sister and her husband who were my parents would give m $10 a week and $7.50 for bus to go take the city bus down in Detroit! Very hardcore ghetto I tell you. I bough a $15 card from this kid who was waving it around. And he goes "I don't need this I'll throw it away..." and I was like "I'll give you $15 for it!" Sold! I saved $7.50 each week for 20 weeks! :) $150 and for a year $300 not much but when in 9th grade I got to rank up $1100 + 5% from my bank at the end of the year! I use to put my money in a CD account.

Back in 8th grade, I use to change my friends grades for FREE! (He told a few friends of his I would do it for $20, all he had to do was give it to me from them and the money and it was done. No one knew it was me at all) I told him all you got to do is get an F or an E in class, I'll take care of the rest! I would put it in a type writer, and put a capital b so the B covers E, or F! :) He got so many gifts cause he did so good in school, his mom never did figure out why he failed so badly at the end of the year!!! 5 years letter he tells her, "He use to change my grades all the time it's how I got everything thanks to him." Thank thank me and said "Now he spent 7 years in high school" lol :pound: His okay now days, his going to school almost finish, getting A's going to get a $100k a job. Without my help! lol.

I save to save cans and bottles cause in Michigan you get 10 cents per bottle/can! If you guys ever drive in California you'll see so many on the side of the road! I just look at that as CASH but they don't offer 5 or 10 cents.

I use to buy 200 pencils for $10 and resell them for .10 to .25 cents to kids. At times I would encourage kids to play pencil pop, it's when you sit there and pop each others pencils so they break to see who has a stronger one, then I would sell them! Got to start young! :pound:

I use to do so many things with friends and on my own at age 18 to 21 but this is adult age and I won't talk about it in the open forums but did rank in $12,000 a year doing it! :pound: not drug related!

I use to call up my friends cell phone company and close their contracts without having them pay that $500 for closing early on the contract and charge them only for a few bucks for it. I'd take the money, their information down take the phone outside and walk back in saying "here it's done got the money?" lol.

Those days were fun!

GreenBean 02-23-2013 06:05 PM

All for money in my piggy bank.

Ah, those were the days.

Re: Are You A Hustler????

Seems to be headed for a classic thread

moneyhustler88 02-23-2013 08:01 PM

Ahaha this is turning into a thread..i'd tell u some of my hustles..but theres spies around lol

AmazonStealth 02-23-2013 08:48 PM

Everything I see has a dollar sign, and I can calculate cost, labor cost, profit, etc in seconds. I walked into a thrift store the other day on a whim. Spent about $15, turned it into $500 by then end of the week. It took me longer to walk to and from my car, then to make the money. Hustling doesnt have to mean illegal by any means. I view it as determination. Some say all I care about is money, but I do not let money control me. I let it provide myself and my family a financial free life, with reasonable luxurious materialistic items.

I remeber that pencil game lol I used to sell those too. True story, I took chopsticks from whenever we ate at a Chinese restaurant and sharpened the bottom and put an eraser on the end so it looked like a pencil but does not break so easily lol No kid could understand how my pencil took a beating and still not break lol As kids we were all creative & came up with a lot of crazy ideas....

Read it again I said 9th grade not 8th grade. And I did earn $100 from the money I had in there. :)

But you need a parent/guardian to sign for you. And no DEBIT cards until you are 18! And couldn't withdraw the funds without a parent/guardian! This was back in 1996 man!
