So, all you full time ebay sellers out there, if there was no ebay or you never sold anything online, what will you imagine to be doing for a living right now?
I think I will be flipping houses am going to try and buy my first house this summer and flip it to see if I make big bucks ), what will you be doing?

I market.
Flip houses(mostly marketing)
Buy scrap gold(also all marketing)
Lend money(marketing mostly)
teach people to manipulate ebay auctions, selling limits(all marketing)
flip autos(mostly marketing)
Transactional finance investors and businesses(marketing)
so no matter what I would say Marketing would be most likely in my ball park.

I did well before ebay and I would do well long after ebay is no longer there.
Learned a long time ago.
Know what to buy and where to sell it.
Worked many years before ebay.
Probably sit back and relax for a long while, then I would get border and buy a huge building to start an antique mall in a busy location. Why?
I sold in antiques malls from the 80s until today and before ebay I could not keep enough stock in my booths.
Many years sold 6 figures of antiques in multiple antique malls. Ebay hurt many malls for many years but malls are making a large comeback recently as my sales have tripled in several antique malls over the past year.
Ebay is more of a challenge to me now more then ever.
Dont need to rely on them for income anymore as I have several other streams of income but they sure have provided me with everything I ever needed or wanted outside of the normal things you need to survive.
Ebay is the extra cash in my life and I do not depend on them for income.
Just for fun money, new cars, vacations, rental properties etc.
Never rely on ebay for your constant and only income. Always be looking for different streams of income.
Wont ever work for someone else again. Worked running a department for a large corp for a while after I sold my business and wont ever do that again. And dont have to. | The Following User Says Thank You to Sandy D For This Useful Post: | |

You would pull em over for speeding then I would get them out and make em do an old-school sobriety test. Hopping backwards on one leg, touching their nose with eyes closed, walk a straight line. Of course get it on video for some yucks while scarfing donuts and waiting for the next speeder.

I would probably be crying in that I have to look for a "job." Then I'll be reading six figure boss as much as I did the Stealth Book.

Live Laugh Love
Flip anything for a buck
Make babies
Eat at a table instead of out of a plastic cup
Sleep in a proper bed instead of snatching power naps in bean bags

I would find alternative ebay sites to sell my stuff if ebay is down for good.
Probably start trading if all else fails.

oh god where do I start
I would be working as a research stock analyst at my old bank job. I would have 4 ex-wifes and pay alimony to 2 of them, have 2 kids with my 1st ex-wife who would also hate me because I would be working 14 hours a day, 6 days a week. I would have a pet gold fish who swims on the surface up-side down, and a pet turtle who died from starvation and lack of water. So the only thing left is the empty dry shell.
And last thing is, I would be dead at 55 years old from a high stress job and the money sucking lawyers from the ex-wifes.
**But all kidding aside,
I would be working at a fortune 100 investment bank on the east cost of the US. The high stress and gold fish part would be true.

I'd send the wife back to work
EBay is not our main income and only allows her the luxury of being a stay at home mom.

I would move to full time trading on the horse, FX and options markets
Horse trading is still my main source of income, although eBay caught up nicely with it last year.

There will always be a market for buyers and sellers to get together. Online is more convenient, but offline can be profitable too.
I'm sure I would do something else. I don't know exactly what that would be, but I'd find something.
A fiend of mine makes a very good living just working events. She sells whatever there will be a demand for. She goes to craft shows, fairs, or even just the beach. She sells cold pop, water, cotton candy, popcorn - whatever fits the time of year. Her biggest deal is the Gay Pride Parade in Chicago, It always attracts hundreds of thousands of people and is held the first week of July, so the heat can be brutal. She walks along the parade route and sells ice cold water at $5 per bottle. She has cars parked along the route stuffed with ice and bottles of water. She told me that last year she went with her 2 daughters and made over $10k in ONE DAY. Of course, most things are not THAT profitable. But she does very well and works mostly weekends.

Just thought of something.
Popcorn stand downtown NYC.
Heck of an idea.
And sell snow shovels and finger warmers during the winter.

Or have some of the mobile food trucks down in FL. I remember living in Miami back in 85-88, lots of those mobile food trucks driving around. They would drive all around the clothe factories down by the docks.
Sadly the factories are long gone now.
