TrueCrypt disk encrypter - any alternatives, their site down

Are there any alternatives similar to truecrypt as on their website is says there is a problem with it and to use something else.

I am looking to encrypt my whole hard drive so when you turn on my pc, you need to enter password before you can do or see anything, similar to the truecrypt process.

I am not willing to use bitlocker because I feel there may be a back door in their software and do not feel 100% secure using it. Also, it is a Microsoft windows built in program so it cant be all that?

I want to encrypt my whole hard drive which is running win 8.

Using a closed-source OS such as Win8 defeats the purpose of having disk encryption as it is suspected that Microsoft has backdoors in their OS.

If you are looking for a true security and peace of mind I recommend using just about any Linux distro with LUKS+dmcrypt.

However, if this is not an option, I have heard that audits of the last released version of truecrypt (7.1a) have turned up nothing. You will need to find the binaries elsewhere since the original website is shut down. Just be sure to make sure the hashes of the download match that of the official release.
