You should start a hosting business! I tried a few smaller providers, but they were all TERRIBLE with downtime. Now I stick with hostgator. I hate the feeling that I am customer #9987215, but it is better than 2 day outages, lost data, failed backups and a 7 day response time...
HostGator is pretty solid. I have several accounts with them for smaller websites. I like them for the same reasons.. they have fewer issues then other providers. That said I have noticed quality is getting worse with HostGator.
I almost got into the web hosting business but then I realized that it is A LOT of work that goes into it. There is a reason why smaller web hosting services aren't that great.. it takes a lot of skill and work to keep things running smoothly.
I once had a hosting business many years back. If you invest in the right tools and put a good system in place, you can actually have a robust network and residual income because so long as your services are up and running, you dont need to do anything as customers dont even bother contacting you.
