I didn't realise they were that big. I knew they were big, but not that big. I think it's down to the fact that they get help from the government. China's population is huge and sites like google, youtube and twitter a regually getting blocked in China for months, and years at a time. This forces users to use sites like Youku Tudou for videos and Sina Weibo for social media.
Even when sites like Google and Youtube are allowed they're slow and if anyone uses proxies, VPNs etc they are very slow, so people just use the above sites since the servers are close by.
