Lightbulb Dont forget to BACKUP important files

Hello

Just a quick reminder that making backups of your computers important files etc. is vital

Coz if you get a hard drive problem and have not backedup, its hard to get your info back ..... as in user names, passwords, addresses, ip list etc.

Thanks

I use a password protected excel file with a generic name and have it sitting on Dropbox... Pretty much all my important files are backed up on Dropbox + open-drive...

Hi.
There are many ways to backup files.

The post below your mentions online storage so you can save copies of important stuff online. There are a few companies offering this service.
Personally, I don't like online storage because of security issues and I am paranoid.

Another way is to manually save important files.
One way is to insert a memory usb stick into your computer and backup to there.

Another ways is to backup files to another computer if you have one. This can be done via a network cable if you are only connecting one computer to another.

Sometime I like to use special backup software which automatically backups up stuff at times that you specify.
After trying a few backup softwares, for my setup, acronis worked very well.

Sorry I did not make a proper write up, I just came back from Amsterdam after being there for a few months and my head is still in space.

Also, it is good to backup important pictures and stuff like that too.

You can google it for more detailed information because there are many ways to backup and you should pick one that suits your own setup/style.

Thanks

I made the mistake of not backing up the drive on my selling laptop hard drive about 2 years ago. The drive failed and I had to pay about $1100 to a recovery company to get the info back.

I learned my mistake, so I know have a spare 1tb SSD drive to back up the main SSD drive. And all important files, like spreadsheet, I save to my email as a attachment, I save it to 2 email accounts.

Most important is the spreadsheet file, with all info. I got a virus on my computer a couple months ago, had to reformat, make sure to get your master file, it's easy to backup because it is so small, have 7 to 8 copies of it, then backup your hdd, that comes after u have backed up your master files.

This is indeed extremely important! What I like to do nowadays is use google drive and use google spreadsheets that way every change I make to it gets saved automatically to the cloud

And for more sensitive files that I dont want online, I use a password protected flash drive
