| | | manoverde | 02-14-2016 01:52 AM | How do they know when you are using the same image even when you delete exif data? Hello Guys
I really don't understand how can they detect the same image even when you put water mark and make small changes on a picture.
They still get linked. Do you have any info on this??
Thanks |

Competitors will know you.

No idea who does this-- but if a marketplace wanted to they could index your images in a database, so if an account got suspended and they found the same listing picture on another account, that could create a link and be subject for review.
It takes a lot more to not get a hit by reverse image search than simply adding a watermark, you have to make some big changes... it might be best to just remake your listing pictures if you've been suspended and you're not using a generic stock image. |
Re: How do they know when you are using the same image even when you delete exif data Why not use new photos OP? |

New definition in photos might be hard to achieve.

:ranger: | With all the q's, I didn't know his items are unique - if that's the case...well it's messed up for him unless he expands and gets creative. |

Thank you so much for your reply.
1- why i don't create new images for this product?
Because i have to invest money making them again.
2- I know this is not correct but i copy other sellers images and they work good i can open the account with no problems.
3- I used old images from banned accounts and put water mark and a frame
the image look different but after 10 minutes the account got banned.
Im sure this is not because they report me because etsy support takes few days to make a change.
Im impressed on how they can detect me....... IS CLEAR THAT IS THE IMAGE Because i follow the same steps for the other 12 etsy accounts
My 12 are running good with other images.
HOW THEY DO THAT??? do you think is like a scanner that compare parts of the image?? |
| GreenBean | 02-14-2016 08:36 AM | Re: How do they know when you are using the same image even when you delete exif data Ah, you steal from other sellers
Sorry out of the thread, |
| phaz0rz | 02-14-2016 08:43 AM | Re: How do they know when you are using the same image even when you delete exif data Considering just how unique your products are, and how relatively small etsy is at this point, maybe someone from etsy recognized your products and said "no way, I remember this guy."
If they were able to detect you after you added a "frame" and watermark to the picture, it sounds like your only option is new photos. Or maybe you could try changing the background color in photoshop if you're any good with that? |

| muzzie | 02-14-2016 08:46 AM | Re: How do they know when you are using the same image even when you delete exif data If you upload the same image, without ANY modifications to the same acc, they just compare CRC numbers of images and find that the image has been used previously. |

The question he asked in the title was slightly different than the question he asked in the body of the thread. |

There have been huge advancements in photo-recognition software over the past few years, and I have no doubt eBay/AZ/etsy utilize such software. This is most likely how you are getting linked. |

Reversed the photo in photoshop
Put on a completely generic background
Changed the size
Saved in photoshop as a web file with all data removed
Saved under a new file and new user in windows
Am I good, or did I leave something out? Helpful input only please. Thanks so much!=}- | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 01:33 AM. | |
