Politics talk. I like it. I figured members here would be very political out spoken.. I was right. :) |
| yankee | 05-15-2016 04:09 PM | Re: US Election 2016 I hated the idea but ended up liking it :) I am especially intrigued at how other countries view and perceive the USA. |

Upto 4 stars now | It still has had damaging comments made towards users.
Bear in mind a written word has more power than face to face talk. |
| JamesNorth101 | 05-15-2016 05:57 PM | Re: US Election 2016 For the most part it's been pretty give and take like any good political debate from what I have read. At least that is how it has come across to me |

It is interesting, tell me what you found most interesting...... | the entire bit, really. It suggests the mexican government does not want to take care of its own problem. By dropping these pamphlets in poorer neighborhoods, they avoid responsibility for their own sub-par citizens.
If this article were true, would that technically make trump right, saying Mexico DOESNT send their best to the USA? Since the pamphlets were not designed to be distributed to their well-educated, logical reasoning can conclude his seemingly bigoted statements were uncannily true.
It also raises a question... are bigoted statements bigoted if they are true?
not that this is a major issue at all, but the disruption of this one tiny piece of information blown completely out of proportion has pushed trump over the edge with swing voters. The media has painted a detailed picture of what it wants its citizens to think.
so IF trump would have never said anything about mexicans or muslims... would his appearance be different? Absolutely. And every political topic could then be accurately and fairly discussed without that emotional BS bias. |

And just so you are aware, I know and have family members in Mexico who are well-off, middle class and none of them have ever wanted to live in the US. I would say that the majority of "Latinos" that have crossed the border illegally have done so because they don't have the money to file paperwork, hell most don't even know how to write.
Now, have they broken the law, yes they have...can't deny it, but when they don't have 2 pesos to rub together.....people will risk their lives for a better life, and I would assume that many who came through Ellis Island probably were in similar situations...not all but maybe some. Quote:

| Of those who came through Ellis Island, how many can we say were "well educated" or "The best"? tough to really answer. Welcome to Immigration Quote:

| It's very difficult to have such discussions without including emotions.....very tough. |

| GhostOfAmazon | 05-20-2016 06:49 AM | Re: US Election 2016 I just hope everyone who plans on voting for Hillary in November is fully aware that she stole the nomination from Bernie Sanders and that she plans on abolishing the 2nd amendment.
I have considerable proof for both of the above statements for anyone that wants confirmation. |
| JamesNorth101 | 05-20-2016 10:36 AM | Re: US Election 2016 Is she able legally to abolish the 2nd amendment? That isn't in the power for the president is it? |

| JamesNorth101 | 05-20-2016 06:03 PM | Re: US Election 2016 When you say in certain states it's already abolished, are there no guns sold there? Or are they just a bit harder to get hold of than in other states?
Being abolished to me would read as guns cannot be sold at all. That was something I did not know that was possible in the US. Being harder to get hold of yes due to tight control on who they get sold to yes, being impossible to get hold of no. |
| yankee | 05-20-2016 06:17 PM | Re: US Election 2016 In MA, we have a permit to buy anything including powder. The permit requires a fee of $400 biannual. You can never of had any record in your entire life. Even a simple 911 call dispute with an argument with your girlfriend or a small barroom brawl. An OUI(Operating under the influence) in your lifetime.
You have to take a 7 day hunter education course(even if you do not desire to hunt) and a handgun course. A few hundred more dollars.
You then have to apply to the chief of police in your town of residence. You need to obtain fingerprints, pictures, etc...just like passport. Many towns/cities require a 2000 word essay for why you feel you deserve to own a gun.
It is then several weeks up to one year to get a response. Oftentimes the response is they want more info or to reapply because to much time has gone by. Many cities such as Newton and Norton MA have a 100% deny rate including all the local police department.
From that point you have two options. You can make a $5000 donation to the Governor(not sure if the new one is the same) or pettion to the state court in Boston for a hearing and hire an attorney.
Now, all have to go to the point of begging your chief of police but many many people have to go to Boston. Of course most just give up the rights or move out of state.
48 states to buy a simple shotgun or rifle you supply a government issued ID and a federal background check and off you go. For ammo you supply a Photo ID. |
