FB locked me out - asking for photo ID

I got locked out of facebook and they asked for my ID card or government certification with picture and place and date of birth!! isnt facebook a place for fun so we do social networking? or its a place for USA government to collect our information? why should i submit any id card to an internet website?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Its a stealth facebook i use alongside in the name of the stealth ebay, I use facebook in conjunction with ebay, can you help with ID?


There are many scenarios that would require this. If you change your password too many times within a certain amount of time, they lock your account. Or when you've used up all your name changes, in order to change it again, they ask for I.D.

You don't have to give them personal information, you can block all that out, they just need to see your name and photo. If they are asking you this for no reason, I would be suspicious. However it could be that people have been reporting your profile, saying that you are a ⊗⊗⊗⊗, and that your using other people's pictures, so they need confirmation that you are who you say you are.

I came across this issue quite long ago. Mostly with some fb game players using abstract avatars and fictional names.
