A few teams have impressed, most have not though.
GB, if we lose to Iceland, he will be a goner for sure. |
Killed the game? Not really.
Just few defensive teams who set up to play on the counter attack because they understand that England has weak points on the sides. Teams just need to soak up the pressure and keep the back line nice and compact, invite pressure and wait till England push Walker/Rose high up- Possibly waiting for an overlap.
Once they see Walker/Rose out of position, they just try to force any kind of mistake and feed the ball from middle of the park, to the wings.
If you look at the teams that England has played against, thats exactly how they set up- Nobody has tormented England with their true strikers. The dangerous moments have always come from the wings, when the wingers either cross from the right, as Walker is pretty out of position most of the time, or when they step in from the wing and play between Cahill and Rose.
The way to exploit England team is to play the wings and cut in- Very similar to how teams play against Liverpool because Moreno doesn't have enough experience as a defender and he is constantly out of position.
I'm super happy that England are out.
Its just further evidence that Roy is quite possibly THE worst manager I've seen during my lifetime.
He probably one of the best England squads I can remember- Almost every position is top3 PL positions.
All the players are young and have energy and if you look at the teams that he played... Its basically Spurs and Liverpool, thats all.
One game you have Studge, Hendo, Lallana, Sterling and Hendo playing- Basically a Liverpool midfield and strikers.
Next game you have Kane, Alli, Dier, Walker, Rose- A Spurs midfield and strikers.
You are talking about TOP strikers and very, very strong midfield. And what did Roy do with them? Made them play like Fulham back in 2009.
Honestly, I feel like a random fan from FIFA2016 online forum could put together better plan for England team.
I was rooting for Croatia because they are always my favourite underdogs- This year they had superb squad.
Now I'm rooting for Italy, because Buffon might be up there with one of my favourite footballers ever. He is right up there with Henry, Zidane, Gerrard and Cannavaro.
