Last time I do stuff for friends and family

Looking for a bit of advice if anyone can offer any really.

Did a sale for a family member, I always hate doing stuff for family but it keeps them happy.

Sent them a 120 pound order, cost me more like 20.

It shows as delivered and signed for, but the company they work for haven't got it. It says its been delivered to another company, who say they haven't got it. They've even checked the CCTV for a delivery van at the time it shows as delivered (6.30am when no business is bloody open to take deliveries!) and there is nothing at all.

What the hell do I do here? If it was a normal eb.ay customer I'd just wipe my hands clean of it and say well its delivered its your problem now! But this family member is now upset because her boss is yelling at her asking where the delivery is.

Never, EVER doing family and friends stuff again. Waste of time.

They've contacted royal mail, who have said they will interview the driver, so they just have to wait. I can't even just send replacements as they need them for the weekend which falls outside of my delivery times. Even if I sent more I can't guarantee it would even get there!

If it did only cost you £20 and they paid £120 for it, then as a one off I personally would sent a replacement as special delivery in this particular situation

When I say it falls outside of my delivery times, I would need to order in stock, prep the order and then arrange delivery. I can't guarantee it will be done in time. My suppliers cut off is 10am, and deliveries currently arrive at between 4 and 5 pm so it would miss any collection for delivery to them, it will cost me a lot more than the original 20 pounds to get the replacement out.

Your absolutely right, I don't like to mix my business with friends/family.

I once had a family member ask me if I could sell a very expensive pair of shoes for them on my ebay account....I flat out said, "No"! I explained that if there was an issue it would be my account on the line, told them to open an ebay account and sell em themselves.

It seems like every time I go out of my way to help ungrateful family members it bites me in the behind. I 100% understand where you are coming from.

I completely understand OP. Helped a family memember sell an item valued over $500, when it came time to explain the fees associated they a bit of a meltdown. I guess I should have explained to them upfront about the fees, but didn't even cross my mind at the time. Needless to say, they thought for sure I was "trying to get off on them" by pocketing about $70 that in reality, ebay and paypal took.

That was the last time I helped family selling on ebay. Too much "huh's?!?" and "what?!?'s"
