Ah, but it will. Those cookies keep you logged into the forum when you close your browser and go inactive. Try and add an exception for the site, and that should fix things.

We cross-posted. No this have been going on for a long time. It also occurs with IE.

That's Aspkin rewarding you for doing such a good job! ;)

I couldn't find my original book purchase code, but Aspkin had it and it was all of a sudden grrrrreat to not be getting the message "Only for subscribed members."

Well, Aspkin, I don't know what you did on your end, but ever since than I am signed in non-stop..and I am not doing anything differently....or, wait, around that time I also installed Flock browser and I have been using it most of the time. (Great browser BTW)

So, my signing in issue was resolved by either Aspkin doing something on his end when he converted me into subscribed member, or it has to do something with using Flock browser. And, yes, it was little annoying signing in every 10-15 minutes, but I too just dealt with it because I thought it was the way it was supposed to be..;)

Do you still have the problem? Or is everything fine now?

BooMer 04-08-2009 07:21 PM

Way ahead of ya. I already added this forum as a exception. I will let you know if I still have problems in 20 minutes.

Lyda 04-08-2009 07:26 PM

Aspkin, no problem ever since I got converted into subscribed member...or Flock did it, dunno.. I went like this months and months signing in all the time. I finally read somewhere if I bought the book I would get 6 month free access to posts I wanted to read at the time but couldn't..... So, now I plan to be subscribed for life! See what ya did? LOL..

aspkin 04-08-2009 07:32 PM

Hmm, so being not subscribed did it? Odd..

Oh, and that's part of being Executive VIP.. no need to subscribe again.. I probably should up the 150 post count. :p

aspkin 04-08-2009 07:42 PM

I just did a test with IE, and no issues after being inactive.

BooMer 04-08-2009 07:55 PM

I just waited 20 minutes of Inactivity and click on this thread and still get have to log in again. Adding the exception in Firefox didn't do anything. I still had the delete cookies on though. I will now uncheck the delete cookies and try again in another 20 Minutes. I'm hungry and Going to go make me something to eat now. BRB in 20.

BooMer

aspkin 04-08-2009 07:57 PM

Odd.. Okay, I'll do the same with another account here.

It's already uped.It was 150 for me..but I am talking too much! This signing in went away when I became subscribed member, around 100 something..

Lyda 04-08-2009 08:01 PM

Sorry, misunderstood..me "bloody foreigner"

eBayNews 04-08-2009 08:18 PM

eBayNews 04-08-2009 08:19 PM

What am I doing that you guys aren't doing?

Lyda 04-08-2009 08:29 PM

But you posted as executive..........Try a brand new member and see what happens than....Just a thought.

BooMer 04-08-2009 08:36 PM

Still had to log in when Cookies were unselected in the Private Data>Settings> in Firefox.

Going to try different settings.

GreenBean 04-08-2009 08:39 PM

:surrender: Same happened to me

ps,BooMer, it is because we are special:cheer:

aspkin 04-08-2009 09:12 PM

Stupid question, when you guys log in, you check the 'remember me' box right?

aspkin 04-08-2009 09:18 PM

Bah, I'll figure it out later, I'm signing off for today. :sleepy:

Lyda 04-08-2009 09:18 PM

Yes, every time I checked remember me box, but it never did...

BooMer 04-08-2009 09:20 PM

I think that is it. I never checked off the "Remember Me" Box. Will do that now.

BooMer:behindsofa:

Yeah same here, Checking the "Remember Me" Box doesn't do anything for me or GreenBean.\/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/

GreenBean 04-08-2009 09:24 PM

^^^Nah, I tick it but nothing. Still it is in hand to be fixed. :typing:

BooMer 04-08-2009 11:56 PM

Got it to work now. I am logged in when I close and reopened Firefox. I do not get logged off for Inactivity after 20 minutes. The only way to log off is to Manually click on the "Log Off" button.

The two main reasons is setting your cookies to delete automatically and not clicking on the "Remember Me" Box when you log in.

These are my settings below in Firefox.

Hope this helps

aspkin 04-09-2009 05:21 AM

Thanks BooMer, glad it's working for you now.

Vicvelcro 06-12-2009 04:35 AM

I've had the problem ever since I got here. I've tried everything mentioned in this thread. Tried a few other guesses as well. The problem still exists for me...

Perhaps it's got to do with one of my plugins? Maybe some obscure setting in NoScript? My FireFox privacy settings almost perfectly match BooMer's. Except I am using a newer FF and have a couple more boxes plus the extra dTA box that the plugin itself adds.

This is no big deal to me, but if there's an easy fix, my day gets a tiny bit better.

aspkin 06-12-2009 11:07 AM

You mean you get logged out as well?

You go to the forum this way: http://www.aspkin.com/forums/

And not eBay Suspension & Paypal Limited Forums ?

Vicvelcro 06-12-2009 12:33 PM

Yes, I get logged out. I access the forum from the link you demonstrate. It's bookmarked exactly like that. The http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ link. In my FF options, I have the proper boxes checked as well as an exception created. And it is much sooner than 15 minutes for me. More like 5 minutes.

So, I usually draft my posts in notepad then paste and post. Just because I run on quite a bit.

aspkin 06-12-2009 12:53 PM

Hmm, I noticed this happened to me the other day under a different user account but it never happens with my main user account for some reason.

It could be a .htaccess error somewhere..

Vicvelcro 06-12-2009 12:56 PM

Well, at least that is another lead for me to run down.

yaw1800 06-12-2009 12:58 PM

I think the issue is not with Aspkin's site but with firefox.. I have a few bookmarks and sometimes when i close and reopen firefox, im logged out of all them.. the solution i know of is to delete cookies, sometimes clearing cache solves the problem but its not a permanent fix..

aspkin 06-12-2009 12:59 PM

Hmm, now that I think about it, obviously cookies aren't staying put for some people.

I'll check it out later tonight.

Vic I have since upgraded to 3.0.10, My current Fire Fox Settings are below. Check to see if you have the same cookies stored. I have 16 plugins as well. The Plugins doesn't affect me. When I had the problem it was because I didn't check the "Remember Me" Box next to the login.

philly387 06-12-2009 03:46 PM

I think it is firefox because cookies aren't working for some of my accounts on different sites

NO ID 06-12-2009 07:34 PM

This has been happening to me from day 1. I mentioned this before.

Vicvelcro 06-12-2009 07:48 PM

We might be onto something here. BooMer, I'm missing at least half the cookies on your list for saved cookies. Obviously the are not getting in. So, philly387 may have a valid point about FF handling cookies. Would explain why the problem was easy fix for some and still a problem for others.

aspkin 06-12-2009 07:56 PM

I just tried something, let me know if it helps.

Vicvelcro 06-12-2009 10:03 PM

Ok, at this moment, I'm problem free, it looks like. I walked away for 40 minutes. Still good.

My thanks to Aspkin, BooMer, and philly387. Somehow, the combined info covered the cause.

aspkin 06-13-2009 01:16 AM

Is it still good? I changed how cookies are saved, so maybe that is it.

Vicvelcro 06-13-2009 01:20 AM

It is wayyyyy good. Didn't know what I was missing.

Great! The other members here who had issues as well, chime in when you read this. Let me know if it's fixed for you as well.

philly387 06-13-2009 01:39 AM

Glad my little bit of input helped :)
