| aspkin | 01-24-2009 09:24 AM | A few changes... Okay, so the first thing you'll probably notice is the sidebar is back!
Well it's not that I like it, but it seems guest like it. And if they like it, they'll register and subscribe to the site. I guess it makes it easier to see the whole forum from any angle.
Second, I made 3/4 the forum paid only. If you have eBay Stealth, you'll have 6 months free access, just send me a PM with your key and I'll set you up.
For everyone else either buy eBay Stealth to get free access or just buy a six month subscription to the forum. You can do both here.
You can also get eBay Stealth for free through TrialPay by going here. Get it free by signing up for any offer, send me a PM with your key and I'll set you up on the forums for six months.
Easy?
The Main forums and Off Topic forums are still open, but the eBay Specific forums, International eBay & PayPal forums, Marketplace forums, and the Subscribers Area forums are for people who subscribe.
Main thing is the Subscriber's Area, and eBay Specifics forums. I may add the eBay Suspensions forum, and PayPal limited forum later on once I get a lot of the people that bought eBay Stealth settled.
That's going to be fun... there are over 2000 of you guys.
Okay, that's it for now.
I'm sure there might be some bugs floating around, post if you see something. Otherwise if you bought eBay Stealth and want your six months free, pm me with your key and I'll set you up.
Aspkin, |
| Here We Go Again | 01-24-2009 12:14 PM | Thank you.....
Maybe this will cut down the SPAMMERS and the 1 hit wonders. |
| philly387 | 01-24-2009 04:28 PM | I have to agree with HWGA...I also think you will make more money too! Which definitely is a bonus |
| GREMLIN | 01-25-2009 12:20 PM | Hi Aspkin
I think its a great thing that you have done with the forum. Dont think theres much area for improvement now, its more or less been mastered. Im sure you can see that im not a subscribed member. I do have your ebay stealth book but it was given to me by my brother. I dont want to get him into trouble or anything because he gave it to me but thats how i got hold of it. So this is the reason why i dont have a key.Ive been a member of your forum for a few months now and i try my best to give back as much as i get, somedays i will log onto the foum and browse questions that need answering and answer them.
If you can recall a previous thread i suggested that it may be a good idea if the subscribers area was opened to certain members that met a criteria of say 100 posts. This was suggested before the change to the forum. You said that was a good idea and others also agreed. This will make sure that you have members that are here due to there contribution on the forum or because they subscribed to your ebook.
I hope this is something that you will consider looking into still.
Thanks |
| suspended user | 01-25-2009 12:30 PM | I think if a person subscribes to the book and to the members only area forum it should not be limited to how many posts they do. Not everyone is into posting. Besides if they pay then they should be allowed.
Just my opinion |
| philly387 | 01-25-2009 12:46 PM | But you also have to look at it like this...Aspkin puts forth A LOT of effort into this and works his *** off to help us all. He deserves more than what he actually gets. |

What I said was as far as the members go I dont think you should be banned from a members area if you had already paid your dues that aspkin required to gain entrance. Maybe Im the one that misunderstood and off base here but I took the conversation as being that you should only be allowed now if you have 100 posts.
Im only stating that if you paid and you bought the book and paid for the members area you should be allowed access to that area. Not change it up and only allow people that post 100 or so messages. I mean geez how about all the new people like me who just got here. |

Gremlin meant to also include those (if i myself am not mistaken) who have contributed to the forum in one way or another |

I reread everything and see your point. |

| aspkin | 01-25-2009 01:49 PM | How about getting free access through TrialPay?
Sign up for any offer, and you'll get six months access to the subscriber's forums. I talked to TrialPay a couple days ago about this, and they're working on it for me.
If not I can probably come up with some auto promotion for people that have contributed a lot to the forums. I'll think of something. |

| GREMLIN | 01-25-2009 06:24 PM | Cheers for that Aspkin, its good you have an alternative method to offer. I'll just have to find a little time filling in the forms.:)
What i meant by my earlier post was that all buyers of ebay stealth get access to the members section as they are paying members. Before the forum was updated it was open to all members regardless if they were paying members or not, there was however a certain section which was allocated to paying members only. This was the time i made the suggestion of allowing non paying members into the subscribed section if they met a certain criteria(100 posts) Now that the forum has become subscibed members only i thought maybe this could still be taken into consideration for the people that reached the 100 post count before the new method of subscribed members only took place (a few days ago) So realistically this would now be available for members that were using Aspkins forum for a few months before today only.
Anyway i dont wanna sound like im nagging as the forum Aspkin has created deserves every penny he asks for. |
| John14789 | 01-25-2009 09:54 PM | The contributing people who are already subscribed don't have to pay anything, correct? |
| philly387 | 01-25-2009 11:38 PM | When your subscription runs out you will... |

:D OMG it's really good coffee, too! Did you get it yet?
I was gonna cancel after the first month but I'm hooked.
(Sorry for going off-topic - but consider it a plug for Trial Pay, the Auction Stealth book and being a subscribed member!) |
| aspkin | 01-29-2009 09:08 PM | Lol, that's a plus for TrialPay, glad you like it. :) |

What else can you buy using Trial Pay?
Trial Pay is a EXCELLENT service if you want the Stealth Book for FREE! I received about 25 movies from Blockbuster in a month before I canceled. |

| BooMer | 02-06-2009 11:46 AM | Aspkin, Any more options instead of $20.00 for six months membership? For example Lifetime membership? Just asking for other users. not me.:D |
| aspkin | 02-06-2009 01:54 PM | I was thinking about, maybe I'll add it back in later. |
| 4rings | 02-06-2009 02:51 PM | Some might want to shoot me for this but I reckon it should work as follows :
New members Join up and get 5 - 10 Free posts, They get to look around the basic threads, Ask a few Questions, see what its all about in general etc (just so they get the picture) then after that they are prompted to Suscribe and Pay the Fee for Access to the forum & Stealth or unabled to access the forum.
Reason I say this is because Everyone (except for the Spys) come here for the same reason. We all Know the people who have never been back on Ebay after they got Banned because of the reason being they never knew it was possible then its UNTIL they hit this site or hear about it.
Majority of 1st time Ebayers who get banned think its simple to just open up a new account and their off selling again, I did that yrs ago the first time I got suspended, You waste alot of Valuable info you could have put into Good Use by getting detailed advice from places like here and stealth, built up of many many Trial and error physical hrs and headaches!!
All the time & Work that has gone into this forum (& stealth) by the Admins must have been a right pain in the *** setting it all up and maintaining etc and for some of the info available to the free loaders is quite Large in my opinion.
So it all balls down, If you want to get back to your trading on ebay and get yourself sorted with Paypal, Pay for the services as its well worth it in the long run or figure it out yourself and take the chance of failure.
Just my 2pence worth.
(..for those who are going to shoot then maybe a warning shot first...?:D) |
| BooMer | 04-08-2009 05:39 PM | Aspkin, Can we be logged in for a longer periods. I don't like to sign in over and over again. I think a can vouch for other members as well who frequent this forum.

| yaw1800 | 04-08-2009 05:52 PM | since gettting my new pc, i have never had to sign in since the first time, that might be a problem with your browser |

Did you send me a PM about this earlier? Someone sent me a PM, I get so many pms a day I don't know who sends me what.
But there have been problems with the forum signing people out if you access the forum without www in front of it.
Example aspkin.com/forums will get you logged out apparently, but if you access the forum by www.aspkin.com/forums you'll be fine.
I'm not sure why it's doing that, I'll try and figure it out. |
| BooMer | 04-08-2009 06:20 PM | No I didn't PM you. This is the first time I am talking about this issue.
Here is my problem to help you trouble-shoot the situation.
I use Fire Fox 2.0.0.16 and have this forum bookmarked as http://www.aspkin.com/forums/
I have the forum opened in a separate tab when I am on other websites and I will get logged out about 15 to 20 minutes of NON-Activity.
Let me know if you need further details.
BooMer |
| aspkin | 04-08-2009 06:31 PM | Hmm, any one else have this problem?
I know the Chat Box cuts off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Did this just start recently BooMer? |
| GreenBean | 04-08-2009 06:31 PM | I use Firefox 3.0.8 with the same bookmark. Much the same happens to me.:pout: To elaborate, if I am signed on and fully inactive, then I get signed out. However, if I post a reply or send a pm I stay signed in, in other words if I am active, I stay on line
We cross-posted. No this have been going on for a long time. It also occurs with IE. |

I get upset sometimes when I am replying to a post and it takes more than 15 minutes to respond and when I click that submit button it tells me I have to log in and sometimes I lose the info I just typed. I now Copy and Paste my reply before I hit the submit button. I have my Login Name and password stored in Fire Fox so re-logging in isn't that bad.

| GreenBean | 04-08-2009 06:41 PM | ^^^BooMer, are you my twin? That happens to me as well :pout: |
| aspkin | 04-08-2009 06:47 PM | Come on people, let me know when there are issues like this, I can usually fix it. I never have this issue.
Let me see what I can do. |

| aspkin | 04-08-2009 06:53 PM | Okay, so you guys are saying. Whenever you visit the forum for the day or whatever, you must login? You're not automatically logged in?
I have settings to set users to inactive after 15 minutes, but it shouldn't log you out. There should be cookies on your browser that keep you logged in. You don't auto delete cookies do you? |
| lakeman | 04-08-2009 06:54 PM | My browser never logs me out, but my iPhone used to log me out every ten minutes, until I searched on google and found I had to change something in the command prompt of my iPhone, so it wasn't the forum doing it to me. |

aspkin: I do not auto-delete cookies....I think:noidea: |
| aspkin | 04-08-2009 07:02 PM | Firefox >> Tools >> Options >> Privacy >> Make sure 'Always clear my private data when I close Firefox' is unchecked |
| BooMer | 04-08-2009 07:10 PM | Yes I set my cookies to delete after I close Fire Fox for Ebay and other purposes. I didn't think it will interfere with the forum. |
I had the same problem (had to sign in typing ID and psw) until I decided I should ask Aspkin to let me in the forums I didn't have access to. I just sent him an email and explained I bought the book first while back, and found the forum second. I couldn't find my original book purchase code, but Aspkin had it and it was all of a sudden grrrrreat to not be getting the message "Only for subscribed members."
Well, Aspkin, I don't know what you did on your end, but ever since than I am signed in non-stop..and I am not doing anything differently....or, wait, around that time I also installed Flock browser and I have been using it most of the time. (Great browser BTW)
So, my signing in issue was resolved by either Aspkin doing something on his end when he converted me into subscribed member, or it has to do something with using Flock browser. And, yes, it was little annoying signing in every 10-15 minutes, but I too just dealt with it because I thought it was the way it was supposed to be..;) |
| lakeman | 04-08-2009 07:15 PM | Boomer, why do you delete your cookies? That raises flags on ebay, it is a lot better to use separate user accounts. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:37 AM. | |
