| phaz0rz | 12-16-2018 10:56 AM | Re: Just Got left $780 Grand From Dad I hate shopping. I bought a big TV last year during black friday and I think that's the only time I've participated.
You should resize your photos. |

Put it in a broad market index fund, compounded yearly at 8% you'll have $1,146,075.90 in the account in 5 years without having to put anything else in the account.
Or 1,683,961.50 in 10 years.

| aspkin | 12-16-2018 09:00 PM | Re: Just Got left $780 Grand From Dad Do you REALLY want to work at a subway though? Sure you can be the owner and hire others to follow the subway manual but you still have to be involved. I would check out how profitable these places are before going forward with it. Personally I'd much rather my money grow by itself than work. You could be a hard money lender. I make 10-15% return depending on the loan, plus points. With hard money lending you seriously just receive direct deposits in your bank account without any extra work. I'm starting to do that more these days. |
Re: Just Got left $780 Grand From Dad Hard money lender is right. @OP, sad to hear about your loss.
Spread out the money with investments and profitable business if you like but business does takes work rather than having residual income... |

If you buy a business, expect to put in the work. You are essentially buying a JOB. Don't think just because you are owner (the boss) you can just tell people what to do and the business will more or less run itself. You will need to be involved, and have incentive to keep it going and viable. If not, this venture is likely not for you.
If you want the easy route, then consider sensible investments instead. |

The "owner" ends up making less than $100k/yr, they never really own their franchise, and they aren't allowed to open more than 1 because the owner has to be fully involved with day-to-day operations.
Terrible franchise to open TBH.
With Subway it's relatively easy and they're the cheapest fast food franchise to start up by far. Subway wants you to own a dozen stores and they don't care if you're involved with your stores as long as you can find competent management to run them for you. |

McDonalds franchise is where some real money is if you have the start up capital (at least over here in the UK) and a desirable location. |

Not as popular as McDonalds though |

Not as popular as McDonalds though | "The average McDonald's restaurant generates $2.6 million in sales annually, making it the fifth-highest-grossing chain in the US by sales per unit behind Chick-fil-A, according to QSR magazine. But to open a single restaurant, the company requires that potential franchisees have liquid assets of at least $500,000. Apr 17, 2018"

| phaz0rz | 12-17-2018 10:17 AM | Re: Just Got left $780 Grand From Dad Chick-fil-A is structured like a pyramid scheme. Most money is funnelled to the top and the franchise "operator" (not owner) makes a meager salary compared to other franchise owners. Chick-fil-A will help you finance the initial investment so they don't require as much initial capital, but that's because you're never going to own your restaurant or have any freedom to make decisions. Sure there's rules like that with most franchises but it's much worse with them.
Last I checked, at least.
And yeah, they're popular mainly in the "bible belt" in the southeast USA due to the die-hard Christian beliefs of the founders. |
