The promote is basically just lowering the price by 5% from what I've seen.
It doesn't have the effect of a paid ad like eBay.

Okay! Mercari is a bottom feeders’ galore and their system when it comes to shipping really is terrible!

My tracking showed delivered and it still says I violated their policy because the tracking was invalid.

They allowed multiple accounts in one household.
They closed my boyfriends account and his house mate account! Upon their descretion! Holding over 2000.0 . asking for verification but their system fails it even though correct!
Now my boyfriend is locked out of his account!! His housemate at their mercy fighting for his money!! They keep failing verification..

Its a total nightmare!!

They are crooks.

The key is not to have more than $100 or less in sales and clear payment

Loosing $100 doesn't hurt as bad as losing over $2000.

Yep, it's easy to make a Mercari account.

I don't think they are crooks, but they are made for bottom feeders in my opinion.
The sellers and buyers have a lot left to be desired.
And their system is absolutely flawed.

Movement on mercari is pretty awesome tbh. but like said above it really is a bottom feeders paradise. Sometimes i find sellers asking me about some of the **** i'm selling as if they don't know anything then clearly go over to their page and they're selling the same ****.

Also im sure everyone knows this by now but mercari doesn't even have a phone number or email to message for seller disputes or anything. they essentially just made a website and said heres the rules, heres our cut, have at it.

Can you let me know which steps you are sure to follow when making a steaLth account to be sure you are under their radar?

NO! They only release funds after your tracking is delivered, then it prompts the buyer to rate you, then it gives you your money. No confirmed tracking no money.

IN THEORY, maybe you could send them an envelope for $3 and slip whatever the "digital" good is inside on a usb or write the code down on a piece of a paper but that just seems like too much work

That sounds like the price point that mercari is made for.
Which means after their 10% and shipping cost the type of items sold must be around $1-2 overhead to make decent profit.

I've been selling some $300-400 items on there. My most recent listing has 1000 views and 40-50 likes but no one is buying it. Vultures waiting for another price drop, I'm sure.

I have some left over fidget spinners I think I'll put it on there to liquidate.

Mercari still seems to be a platform like craigslist where not many people are actually looking for high end or new goods.

I could be wrong though considering some of you are thriving

Yeah I'm using mercari to sell extra merchandise that I have as well. It's pretty ****ty, I'm only making like $100 a day profit on there, off around 5 sales per day. Worst part is EVERY time you sell something (or the mercari community just decides to remove it) you have to reupload it. Would be nice to have a bot for it, then I imagine it could be semi profitable.

Yes, if you READ their terms, it states they are for consumer-to-consumer transactions. And do not support businesses.

$100 profit on a platform like that is actually not bad at all.
I wish I can do that.

Just such a hassle to have to constantly reupload listings, copy and paste everything from my burner phone into an email, then printing the labels, going back, manually entering the tracking. Today I shipped 11 orders from mercari for about $250 profit so it's getting better I guess. Amazon on eBay are just way easier as far as shipping, the ability to have stock, and more profitable too.

also keep in mind that alot of the people who buy on mercari also sell cheap or random **** themselves and rather waiting for the direct deposit they just buy whatever for like $20 the made selling a shirt or something. I do sell somethings higher at like 100-200 but those are more specialty collector items thats kinda more niche.
