Is PPC still effective?

I've been out of the SEO game for about 6 months and wondered is Pay Per Click advertising cost effective? Do you still get the results as back in the days?

A hear of a lot of people spending way too much on clicks because they are getting expensive. The content market is still doing well I think though.

I do see an immense positive with PPC whenever I advertised for my websites. I get repeat buyers as well which is a huge added bonus.

Granted, it does so get expensive. However, compared to amazon outrageous fees, you can actually come out ahead with what you spend for advertising than what amazon takes out in fees. It just comes to knowing who your target audience is, demographics, the time they will more than likely shop online, age bracket, good/negative keywords and curtail your PPC around that to get the most qualified coming to your site. The more qualified, the higher your sales.

What do you mean amazon fees? Do they have a PPC thing too?

Recherché 08-05-2009 11:25 PM

I'm sure they do. However, I was referring to just taking the easier route of simply posting on amazon itself and getting gouged with their take. To put in perspective, the two weeks before I was suspended I made about $2,650. Not necessarily good or bad. That profit level came down to about $2,140 after amazon fees. Thankfully, [ahem!] all I sold was errr...imported goods so it didn't bother me that much.

With that money $500 and superb marketing via PPC, it is possible to if not make as many sales but still have a considerable healthy profit margin by keeping it all yourself.

Fifteen cents per click appox equaling $500 is about 3350 clicks to your website. Something like that as my math may be off.
