Many business owners make zero profits the first year in operation.
Focus on traffic and growing so you can compete.
Tossing 10.00 fees at newbies will scare a ton of people away.
Just an honest opinion especially when you have little traffic at this time.
Ask yourself, would you pay 10 fee to try a new website that has no broad membership yet.
I started, owned and operated my own manufacturing business in my early 20s and did not take a dime of profit for more then 2 years. Year three it become a multi million dollar company. I worked 18-20 hours a day most of the time 7 days a week with no vacations or time off at all. |
Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Might as well implement an incentive program itemauctions - maybe first 50 listings free etc. |
| Sandy D | 03-11-2014 12:28 AM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Find other ways to draw in cash to get paid while this is growing. |
| itemauctions | 03-11-2014 12:44 PM | Nope i'm good, i've hit rock bottom and things are just going to go up from here. ;)
Yeah it's very rough it feels like everyone wants me to fail lol |
| itemauctions | 03-12-2014 06:46 PM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Yap I'm doing my best, and yes I definitely would pay the $10.00 seller fee simply because people like to shop/buy expensive things. |
| itemauctions | 03-12-2014 07:08 PM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Thanks for the suggestions anyways, I'll never fail you guys never did and never will. |

No one is going to do you any favors in business. Its all on you. |

By all means i wish you luck, but from what i read you probably need to admit its going way slower than it should.
This is polite way to express. |
| itemauctions | 04-06-2014 09:46 AM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Thank you, I am glad to hear all opinions good or bad. |
| itemauctions | 04-07-2014 06:11 PM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Hello all. Quick update on the site, seller verification fee increased to 9.95 and most likely stay as that thank you. |
Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com All good itemauctions - time to get advertising :) |

| onlinegirl | 04-25-2014 06:07 AM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Keep at it! Driving traffic to your site isn't as hard as people make out you just have to put a lot of work into it. Have you got a blog? Do you use social media to help target your demographic market? |
| acreech41311 | 05-20-2014 10:29 AM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Might I suggest, don't discount old fashioned print advertising. Most people assume everyone is on facebook and twitter etc, and most are however I for one pay absolutely 0 attention to any ads that pop up on web pages. I don't click on banner ads etc. As I just don't trust them and most of them are junk sites. However if I see an ad in the paper, a magazine, even a flyer on my windshield I am more inclined to at least read it and I have more confidence that its legit. So don't limit your advertising footwork just to the digital realm. even if you get 10 local people on your site that is 10 more than you have now. |
Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Blog would have to be very big and popular |
| itemauctions | 05-22-2014 01:23 PM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Hey guys the old site is taken down completely along with too much competition from eBay. I am excited to give it one last try, this time I will deliver the next best auction site, a lot better than the last. |
Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Oh crap - so it's gone? shelved? |
| itemauctions | 05-23-2014 01:19 PM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Yep the old site is gone forever in the trash, it's full of bugs and I wasted a ton of time. |
Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Sad to hear - at least you nailed the cause |

Better than others who never bother.
Good Luck for the future.

Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Failing is the best way to succeed, once you realize what went wrong you can retry and make it better. |
| unkown5454 | 05-24-2014 08:05 PM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Get into Google Shopping. Without it, your site will be lost with the rest.
There are tons of sites just like you. You need to get ahead of them and show some face. I only sell outside of EB and AZ, but I won't touch your site if my items don't post to Google.
I have both types of stores running at all times. The ones in Google make sales. The ones not in Google sell absolutely NOTHING using the same exact products. |
Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com No such thing as failure per se - you either succeed at finding what works or you succeed at finding what doesnt work and go from there :) |
| exxomscp | 05-28-2014 11:28 PM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com Lol. I just noticed it looks like the very old old old 90s EB design.. |
| zoneout | 05-30-2014 12:58 AM | Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com 90s Retro is very chic and cool. Great idea. |
Re: Online Auction House ItemAuctions.com I liked the colour scheme - similar to 90s retro and yet was visually appealing |

I am an IT professional in NYC so most people just assume I am on Facebook, Twitter, and the like. I believe those sites work well for small business to promote their products and services but take the "social" away from social media.
However, look around the subway cars and even on the subway entrances and one will notice two major examples of successful print media - The Metro and NY AM. In a city with 8.4 million people, advertising in one of those papers would be beneficial to growing your business. Start off small with a 1/4 or an 1/8 page ad and grow from there. When you see the traffic you expect, go to billboards in the train cars themselves. Mind you, since your business is eCommerce, there is no need to advertise where you live. I mean YouTube advertises, think about that.
After reading each and every comment within this thread, I can tell you are passionate about what you want to achieve and you understand the hard work it will take to succeed. However, sticking with one form of advertising (digital) is not going to work for your site. You have to think bigger. I wish you the best of luck and will continue to follow your progress through this thread. |
