Time appears more your bugbear too.
Make a list of all the things to change to get to do all the other things on the list you say you want to do....
eventually they all cancel each other out.

I looked and did not see any.
What are you doing to attract buyers from other countries such as from the USA? |
| crafty auctions | 04-26-2014 07:15 PM | Re: new craft/handmade auction site Sub catergories are there.
For some strange reason they are only visable to members but we are working on that.
We're promoting in the usa and we have the contacts .
We have 10 members at the moment 5 of them are from the usa with many more to follow.
We'll be alot better once we get the .com domain.
We have to wait till it's available. |

| imjustme | 05-02-2014 01:41 AM | Re: new craft/handmade auction site I hate to be the one that tells you this, but since nobody else has, someone has to.
You will never have success with the auction format if you are just starting out with a new website. Etsy was in a unique position when they started because they were the first such marketplace.
It's the same as with the chicken and the egg. What came first?
If you have no bidders, sellers will not list. And if you do get sellers to list and all their auctions end with 0 bids, they will move elsewhere (Etsy, for example). Even if you do get a bidder on an item, there's almost no chance that you will get 2 of them pushing up the price. Almost no auction sellers want to sell their items at the starting price.
I hope you understand what I mean. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm just trying to help. In my opinion, you need to re-think your entire business model if you care about succeeding. |
| crafty auctions | 05-02-2014 08:28 AM | Re: new craft/handmade auction site we know it will take time to even get the members build up the auctions an get the buyers/sellers onto site
we have the patience to wait an we will
it will be hard but were not going anywhere we will continue to try an grow
an give the people an alternative unlike other auction sites you see come an go
we decided to go for the niche which makes us abit different |
How many sellers to date?
Slowly building then - nice - advertising campaign up? |
| crafty auctions | 05-02-2014 08:44 PM | we have 12 to date
we have some new categories to do over weekend an sellers will be way up after
advertisings going nice
we have got 1000 flyers which will be ready on tuesday
we ve joined an advertised on more craft groups on facebook
1 was the etsy group
we have also contacted a few craft websites an just awaiting on some prices
so that we can have a banner advertising on there sites |

| imjustme | 05-05-2014 06:51 PM | Re: new craft/handmade auction site Your website is not taking off and you need to figure out why.
Just by connecting with sellers on Facebook and Twitter, you should be pulling in dozens of sellers every day just with word of mouth.
You launched over 1 month ago and you don't even have 1 product listed on the website yet.
I am not trying to be an @$$ here but you clearly need to radically change your tactics and overall business strategy. |

Your problem might be perceived you do not want critques only Pollyanna replies.
This is not an easy venture as I understand you realize.
Go over what has been said. Consider the validity. Or do your own thing.

Although my comments may seem like an attack to you and I may appear to be nothing more than an @$$, let me just say that they are quite the contrary. I am trying to help you, not attack you.
I have built several highly successful websites, one right now with millions of members and from my own experiences I can tell you with absolute certainty that if you dont even have 1 product listed after a month, something is seriously wrong. As I said in my earlier post, you should be pulling in dozens of sellers per day with 0 expenses.
I am sure your friends and neighbors have something to sell. Or even your family members like brothers, sisters, uncle, aunt, mother, father, etc. Tell them each to open an account and list at least 1 product. Then do the same with your friends and neighbors.
Nobody wants to be the first seller and the first product. If after over a month you dont even have 1 product listed, you are failing and you need to turn things around.
Instead of asking me what my problem is, you should be addressing your problems. Because if you fix your problems, then I wont have to write what I am writing now.
Etsy and eBay have millions of people complaining about them. You have nobody complaining about you. Just a few people trying to help you. You can either in a few years say " hey I am glad I took that guy's advice" or keep doing it your way which doesnt seem to work out.
Again, sorry if it appears mean or harsh to you, but thats how the world works. Nobody is going to lay a carpet made of roses on your feet all the way to success land. I just spent 5 minutes typing this on my iPad trying to help you. Whether you take the advice or not is up to you. |

It is all well and good getting an unpaid cheer leader.
That does not bring in sales. Might make you feel better. Appears to be making them feel better.
Listings are what are needed to kick start everything. |

Do you know the OP's budget?
That costs money.
Might be more sensible to amend their business plan before spending bucks like you suggest.

You can put an advertisement during the SuperBowl and millions of people will visit your website, but nobody wants to be the first person to list on an empty website. If your website has no traffic, at least make it look like it has traffic.
Hobbycraft and all the others will just completely ignore you or if you do get to spend money on advertisements it will be completely wasted.
Why would anyone bother listing their products knowing they are alone?
Why is it so hard to understand? |
| imjustme | 05-15-2014 07:52 AM | Re: new craft/handmade auction site One more thing:
