Why so much delay in clearance event
 

I'm expecting a single package of laptop for my school project. It was ship on 28th from Australia to Ghana but pass through HONG KONG and updating says Clearance event since 29th and still Clearance event. I'm frustrated and so annoyed. I don't know what to do and why package stuck in another country. I need the laptop for my school practical.

Seems normal now. For a long time it was weeks and sometimes months.

I'm so much disappointed really really disappointed. Looks I won't be able to take it to school since its still stuck there. Why should a package stuck in another country when there is not the destination. Poor DHL systems.

Things are really moving slowly now. There are bottlenecks everywhere and many countries are still dealing with the Pandemic or are in recovery.

There's nothing you can do to speed it up at the moment so best you get it off your mind and just wait.

I guess waiting is the only option but I'm crying inside cos I need the laptop for my project. I wish wish it can speed up.

I'm still waiting and the update still says Clearance event. What an animal is Clearance event? Its suppose to be Clearance event in my country not in another country when there is nothing I can do.

Can you use whatever device you're posting here with?

HK is backed up but your shipment should start moving in the next week or so.

I am hoping and still bleeding. I cant wait for my laptop for school. I wish will have it by next week. Cos its still on clearance event. This should not happen. I believe clearance event should only happen at the destination.

are you sure it is being shipped from Australia,is the seller based in AUSTRALIA,IS THE laptop in Australia or he is buying from someone in China or HK,what does the tracking number looks like?and who is the carrier?
28th may to june 4th is too short to be delivered to Africa,unless you are paying expedited shipping,even with expedited shipping,this COV19 business slows up everything,there may nt be a plane daily to your country from SE Asia?
You should know better to buy from overseas sellers,

The laptop is from a friend in Australia as a gift. So he bought the laptop and ship it from Australia to Ghana then DHL transit to HK then it stuck there for a week now. The tracking still says clearance event and it really piss me off anytime I see that. I'm still hoping it will get to me soon next week. Its really disappointing for me.

A DHL tracking stuck on 'Clearance Event' is possibly being delayed pending info from the sender.
Check with your sender to see if they included the correct paperwork, i.e., an invoice showing the device's value.
As you rightly said, this sort of clearance event should occur at the destination, but I've heard cases of these happen beforehand.

If your sender did not leave their correct contact details on the form, DHL might have trouble reaching them. You might have to contact DHL Australia, and they should help you chase it up.

You will have to wait a long time ,from HK to Ghana?
There is no direct flight from HK to Africa,possibly from HK to UK/Europe then to Africa.
Lease or borrow someone else laptop,you will be waiting for a long time !

Yes right. I think I agree with you. Its will pass through Europe and then to Africa. One I witnessed was like that. So hopefully HONG KONG will transit to Europe then Africa. Europe flight shouldn't be difficult in HONG-KONG I guess. I'm seriously hoping it get to me next few days. Still looking forward to it sooner then later.

Do you reckon people are still in the flapping dark ages?

Flights including freight fly HKG-DXB-ACC. That is

HongKong-Dubai-Accra. Dubai is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and Accra is the capital of Ghana. Offhand I can think of 3 airlines that fly that route.

good to know,so why not ask DHL what is the delay?
My USPS priority intl to HK usually takes 7 days ,thats years ago with no Sars or Cov/
Hk to Middle East to Africa is not direct flight from HK to Africa.
Off hand,I cant think of any commercial or freight flight going from HK to an African country direct.,not even S Africa or Egypt

People who have time and interest to see UK back then would work as courrier,they get paid to deliver important documents from US to London ,hop on a plane with carry on luggage only,deliver the documents ,and come back the next day or two,overnite lodging and meals are paid for.

Good times then. Good times. It was also possible to fly from Australia or New Zealand as a courier. Cost me $108 return for a flight from New Zealand. Gave the envelop to whoever, then watched a match of Premier League Football/soccer. Flew back 30 hours later.


eBay was tame in those days.

Regarding that other post, the freight goes with Emirates via their hub of Dubai. Or on a bad day, from. HKG via ADD - ACC. This flight is with Ethiopian Airways via Addis Abba on to Accra. You never get coffee on that flight. :noidea:
