All the old historical stuff in Europe that generates tourism is what keeps it stuck in the past. Compare it to China where the municipal government will happily demolish an entire block for redevelopment.

There are weaknesses to both systems but I can't help but feel sorry for all the Europeans over there cooking with no A/C. China reminds me of 1950's USA, in a way. Everyone smokes and there are still ways to start something from scratch without any outside investment.. and make it big. In America and to a larger extent Europe, all of the money is already consolidated at the top and it does not trickle down.

In northern European countries A/C is not often needed so no point getting it installed. In southern Europe most people have it, at least in the country I'm in. There's been a heatwave lately so Ive been using mine intermittently, but often I wont use it unless the temperature gets above 30 degrees.

I love old beautiful architecture, I live in a very old apartment building with high ceilings, chandeliers etc. I can't hear my neighbours at all, and it's mostly cool inside during summer.

Worse in China,it is the Chinese govt (both local, province and central) which have been helping the poor.
Rich folks give money away for good cause, they just do it quietly,Michael Dell did recently, but smaller amount we do not read about it in the newspaper.

I'd love to go both Europe and Asia one day. All I know about the world comes from the internet and all of its biased points of view.

Read up on how the body compensates in high heat and how systems fail...it's not just about soaking in a bathtub filled with cold water

The same way that people were recording having "Died of Covid".

They died in a plane crash and then they tested the body for Covid afterwards and it came back positive lol

People in Africa die of high heat as well - I have worked there - don't for one moment think that all ppl have adapted there, sadly. Ppl die in the same way...it's just not so glamorized externally...
