Default Quick IP question, i get a new one on reboot

Hi,

I'm gradually going through setting up a stealth account

As far as IP addresses go, i get a new one when i reboot my router (according to google). Every time i reboot the router sites like www.whatismyip.com tell me a new number. They also have my location moving all over the country (is that weird?)

By combining that with a new Windows user does that make it safe?

My alternative was to change ISP to get a new router but i think it is ok?

I tested it on a 'celebrity' pictures website which only allows you to view 60 pictures a day. I used the allowance, turned off PC, restarted router, turned PC back on and i had the 60 pictures allowance reinstated

I'm hoping i won't continually have to restart the router but just by using the new Windows user this part is solved?

If it's of any interest I'm with Talktalk

If your using 1 eBay account then you don't need a new IP each time

If your using several eBay accounts then you would need to make sure your IP addresses didn't cross over

The new user account for the 1 account is also fine, but if you want to use a few eBay accounts then you need a few user accounts.

Thanks

From what i wrote does it look like my IP will be safe? ie it won't be linked back to the one i was using when i got banned? (because apparently it changes when i reboot the router?)

Is this normal? I feel lucky that i get a new IP by rebooting the router. I thought i would have to change internet suppliers

So long as the IP changes then its totally fine

90% of the time turning a router off and then on again will give you a new IP

Yeah it used to be the same in France for a long time: simple reboot and voila, a new IP...

Unfortunately most DSL providers are switching to static IPs, uncool !

If you want to be sure just google "YOURISPNAME YOURISPCONNECTIONTYPE static or dynamic ip"

e.g. "Orange DSL static or dynamic ip", you'll probably find a forum where they'll tell if your ISP is known for using only dynamic or fixed IPs.

Cheers,

I'd imagine you can do this by tethering your phone to your laptop also.

If this is possible, how many IPs would I be able to run through before I start running in to the same IPs all over again?

Are these IPs unlimited?

That will depend on the ISP

Some have a much much larger pool than others

Yes, tether from your phone. I'm always surprised that more people don't do this. People buy services for connection when the hotspot is already on you phone
