part of the ip address changes? :S

ok guys, so i turn off the power to my dsl modem thingy and then turn it back on.. i then go on google on one of those sites that tell you your ip address.. the first two sets of numbers are exactly the same as before, but the last two set of numbers have changed! so im confused as to know whether my ip has changed and will ebay be able to tell its me setting up an account still.. any help will do guys, thanks

Not a problem with the number changes you have described. The first two sets stay the same & the second two can change.
Say the IP is
123. 456. 789. 01
123. 456. 789. 33
123. 456. 880. 00
123. 456. 880. 12

^^^Just an example for you: this range is fine & accepted by ebay/paypal. Since it means the IP is dynamic (changes) this is to your advantage. Good work for using the ip address 'thingy'. Keeping records is sound :range:

thanks for your quick response, but did you mean that i am able to set up a new ebay account now that the latter two sets of number have changed? or do all four sets of numbers have to change in order for ebay not to track me?

in fact only one digit needs to change for it to be a new ip, but you may get repeats so be careful if only one or two digits change as you will run our of combinations at some point, or get repeats, therefore you have to log your ips, if you have more than one account that you want to keep seperate.

when you say track - they will always know what ip you are on if logged in, that isnt an issue, what matters is that if your account is suspended, any other that has been on that ip has the possiblity of being looked into for similar treatment, ip is only one factor though.

If you are just setting up a single ebay and paypal and you have been suspended previously, you need to make sure you are on a different ip or ips to suspended one..

#2 and #4 are absolutely correct.

65.65.65.65 and 65.65.65.66 are different, and that's enough to be stealth. Better if the change is more unique, but good enough. One digit anywhere in the string is sufficient.

Definitely keep a list of IPs with date you used it.
ebay1 login can use 65.65.65.65 repeatedly.
ebay2 login can use 65.65.65.66 repeatedly.
Just be sure not to mix and match.
