Default IP Addresses not retaining...

Hey guys so I bought the guide and followed everything to do with the ip addresses.

I have a DIR 655. I changed the Wan Mac address to A1 for example, reset the modem, router, etc. Yes, the IP address changed. Recorded it.

Switched users, did the same thing but changed the MAC to B1 for example, reset everything, IP changed again. Recorded the ip address. Good right?

But when I switch back to the first account, change the MAC address back to A1, reset everything, the IP changes again but is not the same one that I got the first time I changed the MAC to A1, it's now a brand new IP address!

What am I doing wrong?

I've read you have to change back within a certain amount of time, I think it's 12 hours. Either way, you don't need to have the same ip every time you login. With dial up your ip changes every time you disconnect, so it's not a problem.

awesome. It's just that in the guide, it mentions that you have to retain the ip addresses. But I've been reading that it's fine to log into a new ip every time as long as it doesn't happen to stumble on the same ip of a linked account or something.

If that's the case, just do it again and get a new ip right?

thanks for your help

You're fine mcjerjer, IPs sometimes expire fast so you get a new IP address with the same MAC sometimes; that's fine.

I confirm. It's not a problem.
