Hi I am currently signing for wireless modem broadband from optus
They said that i was dynamic ip
so does it mean everytime I reconnect the modem to pc, I will always get different ip?
If yes, how can I keep the ip controlled before I decided to change it.
Thanks
Not all dynamic ip's change every time you log in, mainly dial-up does that, dynamic just means your isp might change your ip when they feel like it once a week, once a month, based on my experience. If you want an ip that changes every time you log in you need dial-up, a dongle, or a b berrry or iphone tethered to you computer.

It's a usb modem about the size of a flash drive, but not all of them can have the ip changed, dial-up is the best way to go which is what a smart phone can do.
That's not what I heard, my Clear ip is dynamic and doesn't change even called and asked they said it's dynamic, if you want another ip from them they charge about $10 for a Static IP .
So I take it you're not talking about the Wizard of OZ?
optus is hardly the Wizard
Back to topic, it is going to depend on which Wizard the OP gets. It is possible to set some of their mobile broad bands up to stay 'on' & therefore retain the same IP or so I've heard
