I can't for the life of me change my mac address. I have a linksys router + cable modem. When I go into 'status' on the set up page, I have a MAC address listed, but when I go into 'Mac address clone' to change it, it's all zeros. When I try to plug in my stated MAC address, the site sort of glitches and won't let me type it in. I have tried the DHCP release and renew buttons, I have reset and unplugged the moden + routers... nothing's working.

I haven't unplugged them for a really long time, like overnight like some people suggest, so I will try that. But what's the deal with the zeros? Any ideas?

Also, before I knew that I wasn't supposed to press 'clone', I DID press clone. When it was all zeros except the last digit. Is that a problem?

If you use a router you won't be able to change your MAC, they will see the MAC address of your router. The only solution is a new router.

The Stealth Book says you can change it though, does it not?

Are you using Mac Changer to change your Ethernet card Mac adress, before doing the move on the router's setup page (Clone Mac adress)? If not, give it a try, it always worked for me this way..... Technitium MAC Address Changer - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

You can use a MAC changer, however it's not going to change the MAC of your router - it needs it to be able to function and it's the only one you can't change. If you use a router then that's the MAC that can be seen.

I have an apple computer, so that program doesn't work. Thanks anyway, though.

I can't get a new router, because I'm staying with my parents, and I can't f*ck with their system. If anyone else has a solution, please let me know. The Stealth Book definitely says you can change your mac address with a router + cable modem. Roar!
