Problems in CHANGING my IP ADDRESS

Hey guys,

I got Ebay Stealth Book this morning, and I am following the steps as I was told. I have not entered on ebay nor on paypal since now.

However I want to change my IP address as there is in the book, but I can not for such reason be able to change my ip address.

I have a Thompson Modem and have a DSL...

I am trying the renew and the release thing but nothing happens.

any help guys or can you tell me how to do it correctly ??

I switch modem off, then type ipconfig /release, switch on modem and type ipconfig /renew.... is that good or what?

Do I need to disable the lan thing in the background or what guys ??
