I have reached Step 2 about IP address changing and I am having some problems. (Already!) I went on to IPBurger and it gave me my IP address as:- 86.***.**.**.
| This IP is what gets sent out to the web, it's your "public" IP. Quote:
I have a BT Broadband wireless connection through a BT Home Hub so I have looked up through PREFERENCES & SETTINGS the Home Hub details, and this now tells me that the Airport is connected to Home Hub and has a IP address of: - 192***.*.**.
| This is an internal IP address....This IP does not go out to the web but instead it's assigned to all computers connected to the Hub/Router by the Hub/Router. Quote:
So I have 2 different IP addresses (I noted that there was also a Ethernet Adapter IP Address ie. 10.**.***.*, so that makes 3!!)
| The ethernet adapter is a Class A IP, it's private and only used internally just like 192.0.0.0... So while you may think you have 3 IP's your only broadcasting 1 IP to the Internet. Quote:
so I would guess it is the Home Hub one that I should change??
| This would be correct, You need to be able to change the MAC Address on your router/hub. Assuming you have a dynamic IP which would depend on your ISP. Who is your ISP? Quote:
I presume I have a Dynamic IP Address, but again I am not sure. Could anyone with knowledge of AppleMacs and Safari Browsers please give me the Heads Up?
| Your AppleMac and Safari has nothing to do with changing IP's, you have to be able to change the MAC address on your Hub/Router. Quote:
I also noticed on the "Other Internet Providers" page of the stealth guide....... the Legend of - I DO NOT recommend the usage of ANY proxy service. Could someone please explain exactly what is meant by this Statement and in what context it means it?
| Proxy Servers are easily detectable by Ebay/Paypal and thus not recommended. Quote:
as when I was checking on a IPaddress changing website it suggested going into Settings and clicking on the Box labelled "use a proxy for this connection" Any Help and Advice would be much appreciated!
| Again, we don't recommend using a proxy, you have several options:
1. Find a way to change your MAC address
2. Use a Dongle
3. Phone tethering
