This is an old forum, now we have 4G obviously, do the same rules regarding tethering/IP changes still apply to 4G?

The rules apply when Dynamic IP's are involved.

Is this still working?
Can we open 5 accounts without getting link by ebay?
Just by turning on and off the phone via 3g or 4g ?

You can open as many as you want...as long as you track your IP changes and not overlap IPs between accounts.

No need when tethering to a Computer, your only using the Internet of the phone.

You can achieve the same by putting the phone in Airplane Mode.

100% correct.

No need, just need to log all your IP changes.

A quick question pls....for a non US resident using iPhone tethering/mobile hotspot , will eBay or Paypal be able to track and tell if my network provider isn't US based? Thanks in advance.

Of course they can......

@hughes, your IP will not be US-based unless you are in the US using iPhone tethering

Thanks for the response guys....what I meant was after I had already setup nd configure my browser with a dedicated US based IP address, and it shows my location as US...will eBay or Paypal somehow be able to still track my source of Internet connection or network provider.

Don't you need to change your iPhone's UDID as well or is that only for using the app?

You can't actually change the UDID, it's hardware based. You can on the other hand jailbreak your phone and use software that spoofs it.

Re: iPhone tethering

Can anyone speak to this.

I tether using Cricket wireless in my house which also has cable router. Does the router need to be turned off when I tether or is "forgetting" the network on the user account good enough?

Also if I've used the cricket phone before on old account by tethering should I get a cheap alternative that has tethering capabilities and are their any suggestions on what those alternatives are?

Many thanks for responses. Your time is golden to me.

Re: iPhone tethering

turn wifi off on your device. not the actual wifi router lol

find out how large your IP pool is by logging IPs to determine if you need a different provider

Phone Tethering works if you can successfully change the IP address, in most cases the "Airplane Mode" will work. I would suggest you keep a log of IP changes to make sure you aren't repeating an IP across multiple accounts.

Was more if there is any difference between a contract phone and a pay as you go in the uk?

That is my problem as well. My plan is getting a Oneplus double simcard phone. Simcards are top-up. Everytime use 1 simcard OFF-On and other one is always Off so just switch the simcards, have 2 new IPs everytime and ofcourse screen shot the IPs on IPBurger and then connect to computer with 3G or 4G Hotspot. Will this work and be safe or I am planning to buy 2 wifi small hotspot routers. Thanks

It honestly was the answer with one google search I found this site.

Re: iPhone tethering

Hi guys,
I'm gettin a new SIM for my internet-key and I will use it to get different IPs for my ebay accounts.

I'm from Italy so I don't know if our mobile operators work any different from the rest of the world, anyway here's my doubt:

I connect to 4G (or whatever the available connection is) and get IP.1
airplane mode ON - airplane mode OFF and got IP.2
and so on...

have these IP.1/IP.2/IP.x been assigned to someone else in the area from where I connect? I mean... I guess some time in the past or some time in the future this happened/gonna happen.

Is my supposition correct or the IPs assigned to our SIMS are like public IPs and so everyone of us have some personal ones?

thank you
