Default IP Address Newbie Question

Hi
I know you need a new IP address per account and read you have to change your MAC address.

I wondered if this was still necessary in my case because when I unplug my wireless router and plug it back in it changes each time.

Sometimes its just by the last 2 or 3 numbers and other times it changes completely. Do I still need to change my MAC address?

Thanks in advance

Even if the new IP address is 1 digit different, it is considered a new IP address. Just make sure you are logging every IP address you use and checking them on a website such as IPBurger.com or ipchicken.com.

You don't have to change your MAC, but often that will give you a new IP.

As others have said, it just needs to be 1 digit off. They don't track blocks.

Hey thanks for the replies. I find this forum very informative and am trying to soak in as much info as possible.

I wondered that once I've kept a track of the different IP addresses does everyone check their IP addresses every time they log into different accounts in case of the small chance of getting an old address?

If this is the case, is it not worth creating a new account at a friends address or even somewhere where there is free wi-fi so you would be using that IP address just the one time and you wouldn't have to worry about checking it every time?

Dont use public WiFi. Not safe to do so.

Follow the instructions laid out in the link and all you have to do is enter the IP and excel tells you if it has ever been used before. Very simple.

You have to check your IP each time you go on the eBay/PP/Gumtree ect website.

Simple steps

Set your home page as IPBurger, each time you open your internet bowser copy the IP address and paste it into the Excel file.

If it lights up RED then you need to get a new IP. If it doesnt your good to go.

Make sure you save the excel file before logging off that windows user account, and make sure you log off the user account not switch windows user accounts.

Excellent advice that I will follow to a tee. What about how I mentioned opening an account at a friends or relatives using their IP address? Has anyone done this?

Again not advised. You want to be in control of the IP address and access to it.

You can do that. But if they get suspended, and you share the IP, you're linked. They could have been suspended two years earlier, or they might buy something... who knows. As he said, you're not in control.

Since your IP changes when you unplug, there is no need to worry about MAC address.

What you need to consider is the number of stealth accounts you are going to have.

If it is more than one, I would suggest an alternative IP source. This is to give maximum stealth chances.

Avoid at all costs using the IPs of any and all of the following: public places, friends, relatives. Control the IP yourself. Avoid touching anything of another.

Make it a standard stealtg practise to log your IPs.

It all comes down to control and good stealth operations.

Good Luck
