Hiding Your IP

I am totally scared of this IP issue. Keeping track of every single IP address ever used on any account sounds very time consuming.

Does anyone simply hide their IP instead? Does this work for you? What are the pros and cons?

Do you use VPN or proxy to hide your IP?

GreenBean 07-30-2013 04:48 PM

Thread is now in its correct part of the forum

Read through the repeated posts

Post your current IP arrangement too

:mod:

Dmshark25 07-30-2013 04:55 PM

Keeping track of IPs is actually very simple if u use the right tools, there are different methods

It takes me one second , I use IP VIEW app on iPhone combined with notepad on my phone and everything is recorded and simple

GreenBean 07-30-2013 04:57 PM

Much depends on your existing set up

Better options exist for the USA than hideMyA***

:deadhorse:

Dmshark25 07-30-2013 05:01 PM

I have all US accounts and changing your IP is very simple if u have modem and router, I have comcast

amysol 07-30-2013 05:26 PM

ok...

I have comcast. I guess my router and modem are together in the same box as I have only one box, and wifi throughout the house. I unplugged my box but it did not reset.

As far as the app that you use to know if you are signing on with the same ip as a prior account....can you please tell me more about that? How to use it...I have an iphone.

Any help would be appreciated. I have an iphone and comcast cable internet with a modem and router in one.

THANKS

Dmshark25 07-30-2013 05:40 PM

Just go to into apps and in the search type in IP VIEW

Dmshark25 07-30-2013 05:43 PM

I never heard of modem and router together like that for comcast , unless its new. The modem is the box that comcast gives you a router is another device that gives you wireless Internet and that is something that you would of purchased yourself not thru comcast.

What exactly is there to be scared of? IP's don't bite....

I call this a case of the laziness, Logging IP's is super easy and it would only take 1 minute or less per account.

Sure, there are plenty...but if you use any of those programs...I would start a timer, then you can write down how long it took for your account(s) to get flagged and limited.

This is another case of the laziness.

No....they are worthless for Stealth!

You are in the USA....No need for VPN's or Proxies.
You really need to change the way you refer to IP changes from "Hide" to "Change".
We don't "HIDE" IP's, we change IP's, and log them.

Just load the ip's into an excel spreadsheet..... time consuming? No. (or google docs)

Hiding the ip is a bad, bad, bad idea. 99% of attempts to do this will result in suspensions.

Can my ip varry everytime i log in to an ebay account, or should i have a static ip that I connect with a particular ebay account?

JamesNorth101 07-31-2013 04:16 AM

Takes about 10 seconds to log an IP

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/multipl...-stealths.html

Excel does the rest for you

That reply will depend on what ISP you use.

If you have a dynamic IP, it should change each time it is connected.

Will depend on what you do.

Yes, it is new for their XFinity platform. There's the Zoom 5350 which is probably what the OP is talking about here...

one box

I have one box. It's the modem and router in one.

I unplugged the box, waited, and plugged back in and I do not have a new IP. Can you please tell me how to reset the IP on this sort of box?

Also, I kinda resent the "layness" statements. I am NOT lazy....I am the sole provider of 4 kids, 3 with special needs, I need to make a full time income to support us, every second of every day counts. So when I hear about something that SOUNDS like it's time consuming, I want to ask questions and get more details to really find out how it all works and what is the best way. This does not make me lazy. It makes me smart to get all the facts, research and see what works for others, and what doesn't.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Lazy in terms of taking shortcuts. When operating stealth accounts, you DO NOT take any shortcuts. This will get you suspended. The advice that has been provided earlier from others is to avoid taking shortcuts.

Here is a useful spreadsheet that has been provided in the past on the forum.

What's the make/model of the box? Do you know if your ISP provides dynamic or static IP to you? As stated previously, hiding your IP will not work. You need to get a completely different IP that has not been used before. Then, you need to track your IP to ensure it has not been used. That's what we're suggesting.

GreenBean 07-31-2013 06:22 PM

@An0nym0u$

OP appears to have one of those sticky IPs.

To be streamlined for stealth, a better option may be to use other methods.

For me, it comes down to what will work with a minimum amount of fuss.

When I said lazy...I meant in Stealth...NOT your Private Life.

If you aren't willing to put in the work and the precautions that are required to run safely then your accounts will not last.

unclejohnny 08-01-2013 01:26 PM

Scared......man don't rack your brains. Read through this forum and you be alright

rsot 08-01-2013 01:58 PM

If you use a smartphone, you can also tether with the cellphone to get a different set of IPs as well

amysol 08-01-2013 06:51 PM

I was referred back here from another thread to see the other ways to change my ip. I see no other ways listed here. I can't teather will a cell, my plan with att won't allow that.

Even if I did that, how would I change my cell ip?

I can get a seperate account/line that will allow tether, but the above issue is still the same, how do I change the ip each time from a cell phone?

Resetting box doesn't change the IP. I don't know what to do. I called comcast, they said they can reset my modem, and that it takes an hour but that should give me a new IP. So far (20 min) no new ip.

What are my other options?

Do I need a special plan to tether? How do I tether? Do I need a cord?

An0nym0u$ 08-01-2013 07:09 PM

Maybe the simplest solution for you would be a usb dongle.

BTW, If Comcast says a reset of the modem will take an hour to obtain a new IP, why do you expect 20 mins into it a new IP will be obtained?

amysol 08-02-2013 02:40 PM

I don't expect it in 20 minutes, lol...I was noting the time....noting that I don't know if it works yet; but none the less....having to call comcast each time and wait and hour is not a realistic way to change my IP moving forward.

I tried aol dial up. That too didn't work.

So now I will try this tether thing. I will contact ATT to see about the plans for that.

Something has to work....I just need to keep reading and asking questions and eventually it will get all figured out. Thanks to all who have helped in a kind supportive way! :-)

iphone app that checks all past ip addresses

I've been trying to refind this info for the last 2 hours....so I will just go ahead and put the question out there.

I read somewhere earlier today an iphone app that changes the ip address of the iphone and logs it, so you could automatically see if the ip had been used before. It was not ipview although I learned of that app today as well...this was a different one. It was $1.99 and wish I had just bought it when I searched it because now I can not remember the name, nor can I remember where on these boards I read it.

If you know the name of this iphone app, please let me know.

Thanks so much. :-)s

amysol 08-02-2013 11:25 PM

I am now set up to tether! yay! Now I just want to find the name of that app that I read some where changes your IP and tracks all past IPs for you.

GreenBean 08-02-2013 11:28 PM

If you are set up for tethering, you may be able to use this file instead of paying fees.

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/multipl...-stealths.html

amysol 08-02-2013 11:37 PM

I FOUND IT! ipmanager is the name of the app. I finally feel after all this time that I am getting somewhere. I'm just about ready to open my first stealth account!

Thanks all for your help!

GreenBean 08-02-2013 11:40 PM

Make sure you have your info all logged.

Take your time.

Good Luck

btw anonymous, in true comcast form, I was able to rely on them 0% as usual. After 24 hours of them "resetting" my modem, my ip address still has not changed. 20 minutes or 24 hours...comcast is unrelyable in all aspects of their service. We just hate them....they have has locked in though....a million year contract so it feels....

AuctionsDenied 08-03-2013 02:45 AM

I am glad you found a way to acquire new IP's.

And others in this post have referred you to ways of tracking them.

Tracking IP's is one of the basic foundations of going stealth, if it take a couple of extra seconds at a time to protect your accounts, then it is well worth it.

Good Luck

metatrade 08-03-2013 10:11 AM

Amysol,

Is this the one you mean ?

https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/ip-m...317849724?mt=8

Can you let us know how you get on with it and if it works well for stealth ?

Thanks

I feel your pain; I also have Comcast and detest them. I only stay with them because they are the only high speed ISP in my town - I do get great bandwidth w/ them, its just their Customer Service is terrible. I don't have FiOS like my friends who are in neighboring towns, so I don't have the option to switch - they have our town on lockdown also if you want high speed Internet service. And I'm not going to downgrade to DSL - it would hurt all the torrenting I do :p

Glad to hear you got the tethering issue straightened out. Hopefully your IP issues are behind you. Just ensure you are tracking your IP address religiously...this means making an IP tracking website as your homepage (like ipburger or ipchicken). Keep a log of your IP addresses to ensure it is not being reused.

amysol 08-03-2013 11:43 AM

Thanks all! yes, I downloaded ipmanager and although it does tell me the current ip, as well as the history, it doesn't appear to inform me if an ip repeats itself as some users have indicated that it does. So excel spread sheet here I come! Not that I would want to base my entire stealth business on an app anyway...I think we all learned with ebay never ever ever to put all your faith in one company!

JamesNorth101 08-03-2013 12:11 PM

Make sure you keep a back up of all your documents in hard copy and in cloud. Another option is to email yourself all your documents.

Back ups are very important*

You would be lost if the backups flunked.

I plan to keep this file on my drop box and back up to my external hard drive! :-)

amysol 08-04-2013 05:26 PM

I thought I was finally getting somewhere. I was thrilled after 2 months of having been suspended due to the item I sold, I was finally going to get back on.

Nothing resets my modem/router combo box, not even a reset straight from the isp. So I went the tether route. I added a $20 a month charge to my plan in order to tether, figured out how to do it, created a spread sheet on excel to track all ips....created a new user name on pc...and i'm ready. I switch to the new user. I go to my networks to try and log in with my iphone and guess what....my lap top doesn't pick up my cell phone hot spot.

I mean really? This can happen? I don't understand. After all the dead ends I've hit in the last two months...here I am again...starting from scratch. My go damn lap top doesn't recognize my cell phone hot spot.

I feel sad, and defeated.

Now what?
