If the steps in that link doesn't work, you need to log into your wifi router and use the MAC address cloning feature (or if it allows you to, change the last digit of the MAC address).

The MAC address cloning feature will put the MAC address of the computer's NIC on the WAN port of your router. Then power cycle the modem.

Thanks for the link.. I actually did the MAC Cloning option that you told me last night just changed the last two digits, left the modem and router off over night, and honestly was so bummed when i still had the same IP ADDRESS!

In fact my internet is running super slow now. I can not even open the link you sent me without waiting 45 seconds. lol oh man only me

Thinking about just tetherin through a usb. I think you get a new IP every time you restart your phone.

Haha... if it won't change it is static.

I have TWC and here is what I do.

To save time though you can just call TWC and ask if your IP is Dynamic or Static.

Here is what I do in specific order.

Change mac address in computer

Unplug router
disconnect modem from router
take out battery from modem
unplug modem
take out cable from modem

wait a minute or two

Plug in router
connect modem to router
put in battery
connect cable into modem
plug power into modem

Try it in that order if you have not already done so.

Phone tethering also works a treat.

If you tether your phone it is as easy as turning on/off airplane mode.

No need to completely power it down.

You have no idea how much sleep I lose when a duplicate thread gets made too.

Everything is now merged for you, rambo.

Your IP is what is known as a sticky IP.

It takes ages to change ( 'sticks' on the same numbers)

:tears:

What do you mean a bad account? EB/PP?

Does not matter because tethering will create different IP's

Jack 08-16-2013 06:13 PM

Plus the chances of you getting the same IP with tethering are very very slim.. just saying! You will be fine!!! :)

Just make sure you are tracking IP's.

I have found that I have recycled some IP's from as far back as 7 months ago as well as some from last week.

I would add a proviso to this....

Some carriers have a limited pool of IP numbers.

Techincally, an IP could be recyled.

Important then to record IP numbers.

My bad on not updating you guys..

I actually didnt notice whether it worked or not because i decided i was going to stick to the tethering option

BUT...

I did do it and noticed that a website my IP was banned on suddenly allowed me back on... I checked on IPSBURGER and the numbers didnt change... but it was acting as if i were on a different/new ip address.

So im not sure.. somebody with more experience may know whats going on.

Hey guys,i’m new to all this and still a bit confused about the whole IP changing process. I understand that you need to have a different IP address for each ebay account, what I don’t understand is why you have to change it every time you log in. Say I had 3 accounts, then surely i’d only need 3 different IP addresses, and then i’d just designate one for each account? Rather than having a brand new IP everytime I log into each account...?

You wouldn't need to have different IP address on the same account everytime you log in, BUT, you would need different IP addresses on every different account everytime you log in! Best way to do this,is to log. Jot down the ip address, the username, and ect. Look out for duplicates.

I personally do not think that in the later years (5-10 years from now) ebay stealth will be possible. I think technology will advance and it will simply no longer be possible. So lets take advantage now.

Stealth methodology should be able to adapt to changes in the future. And sometimes, one can turn to the past to look for solutions (cryptic phrase of the day)
