| Mike6453 | 09-12-2013 05:56 AM | IP question for UK Hey guys, I’m new to all this and still slightly confused about the whole IP changing process. I understand that you need to have a different IP address for each ebay account, what I don’t understand is why you have to change it every time you log in. Say I had 3 accounts, then surely i’d only need 3 different IP addresses, and then i’d just designate one for each account? Rather than having a brand new IP everytime I log into each account...? |
| JamesNorth101 | 09-12-2013 06:28 AM | Re: IP question Yes, you can do that as well, but then you need to be able to access the same IP for the same account each time, which can be tricky. |
| Mike6453 | 09-12-2013 07:14 AM | Re: IP question Ah ok im with you, so theres no way you can maunually enter a previously used IP? cheers for your replies by the way. |
| JamesNorth101 | 09-12-2013 07:40 AM | Re: IP question You can do it if you have a sticky IP address.
I use the same IP for most accounts for a few days at a time before getting a new IP for that account. (IP address A = eBay account A, IP address B = eBay account B, IP address C = eBay account C ect ect)
Its just a case of tracking the MAC address as well as the IP address.
If you have a lease of say 24 hours on the IP address assigned to a MAC address, then so long as you reuse that MAC address again within 24 hours the lease is renewed and you will have the same IP.
None of this is necessary, I only do it before I find that my internet connection gets resorted in about 50 seconds as aspose to 2/3 minutes and I am just that impatient :) |

There are several other factors that come into play.
Logging in from a different IP (with same account information) could just mean you are in a different location (friends house, parent's house, or simply rebooted your modem).
Follow James' advice and keep a good track of your IPs on a spreadsheet. There are some good sample sheets provided on this forum. |

You dont want to use same IP over accounts because that will link them.
eB concerns a lot with COOKIES so make sure you use different user accounts for each eB acct and keep cookies in place |

ebay can and do recognise your IP is dynamic. They take that into account.
Provided you have your user accounts cookies erc all together, you should be fine.
Have you made these accounts yet?
IF you are running three stealth accounts, I personally would consider having different ISPs.
Linking must always be avoided.

i currently have 3 internet connections in the house. one with virgin media and the uther 2 are with dongles. i have one account which is only used to connect through virgin media. if i creat 2 stealth accounts to use with each dongle do i still need to keep track of the ip address? would it be a issue if i get the same ip address used on a different dongle? or am i correct in thinking it can only be a issue if i use the same ip address using the same dongle? |
| JamesNorth101 | 11-05-2013 03:26 PM | Re: IP question for UK If they are different providers then you are fine, if they are the same provider, or both providers are in the same 'group' then you can possible get the same IP again.
IP's are assigned to ISP's, not to individual dongles (unless the IP is static)
I would keep track of the IP's regardless. It takes very little time and means you have have several stealths on each dongle. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:46 AM. | |
