Actiontec Router - how to change MAC address?
 

i have a Telus (canada) Actiontec router which is a bult in-model + router - i released the IP address on my router, it gave me a new IP address so that ebay cant track / link me back to suspended account's ip address - but now i cant find a way to manually change the MAC so that i can use multiple accounts on a single router - any help?

it says on its router setup page - Dynamic/Static: Dynamic

it allows me to release/renew another ip address but nowhere to be found on the manually changing the MAC.

If i connect my laptop with a cable to the router - will it give me another mac?

Connecting via cable will not make any difference to the public IP address.

When you release the IP address, and get given a new one then your good to go.

There is no need to change the MAC address if the above method works, just make sure you keep track of your IP's

but what should i do if i want to run multiple stealths on the same laptop - cant use the same ip but i also cant get back the old or change the ip addresses to correspond to the different stealth accounts.

Tethering or using a dongle will be your much better option.

You dont need the same IP for the same account each time you log in.

Say your IP for account A is 185.247.214.256

Then you rest your IP and sign into account B, the IP is then 185.247.217.218

When you next sign into account A, the IP does not need to be 185.247.214.256, it just cannot be 185.247.217.218.

J.N. - thanks for the knowledge! I read somewhere about the NAT within the router that only gives out my 'external' IP and masks my 'internal' IP, should i work with the NAT setting within my router?

You don't need to mess with the NAT.... or even know what it is or does.

Go to whatismyipaddress.com or something like it to check your ip. It will show you what ebay and paypal see as your ip address. There are tons of solutions on the web for this.

No need to touch any of the router or modem settings.

Check your address on IP Burger - Track Your IP Address!

Note the IP address

Release IP, wait for a new IP to be assigned.

Check new IP on IP Burger - Track Your IP Address!

So long as its different, your fine.

@OP, powering down the modem and waiting 1 min before turning it back on...should give you new IP if dynamic
