New IP roadblock
Hey guys,
Literally on the eve of creating my first stealth account, my parents decided to sign up for Comcast's phone service.
Today they came to install it, and gave us an all-in-one modem/router.
Up until now, we had the modem and a separate Linksys router that I could easily change the MAC address on, resulting in a new IP.
I'm having an extremely hard time replicating that simple process with this 2-in-1 modem/router.
Here's a screenshot of the Connected Devices page that I have:
The top one is my desktop that the modem is connected to. The bottom is my laptop. And I have no idea what the middle one is.
If I click "Edit" for any of them, the following screen appears:
If I change the configuration to " Static IP", I can edit the MAC address. However, when I do that the new settings just become a new "Offline Computer" on the Connected Devices page, and the connection type is Ethernet.
The old settings remain unchanged under the Online Computers section, and the computer connects with the same IP as always.
Frustrating.
