Activity: 0% Longevity: 89% | | Use Blackberry for new IP
I haven't been able to change my IP address on my router, but I noticed that when I connect to the Internet through my BlackBerry, I'm at a different IP address each time. Anyone see any problems with this?
This might be a good suggestion to add to the stealth guide. I see dial-up mentioned, but not smart phones. Seems like a good option, since dial-up ties up a land line.

No that is an excellent way to have a speedy dial-up like modem. I was using that method for my accounts until I moved into an area with less service so the speed was way slower than dialup.
You can also change your ip within your blackberry by uninstalling and reinstalling opera mini. Each install designates a new ip address. Its a bit tedious, but if you need to get into the accounts, that's how.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. For me, I'm getting a new IP address every time I click "disconnect" on the network connection and then "connect" again.

I do this with my G1, and get a new IP by resetting the phone. I have also noticed that the IP changes, if I lose my connection and reconnect in a different area. For example; When I drive from home to work, my IP will change.
Also; you can probably find tethering info for your phone, so you can use your laptop/desktop with your phones IP. I find this much easier, since eBay uses so much flash programming on it's sight. I also have trouble getting around certain areas of the PayPal site directly from my phone.

Not everyone uses these phones.

I realized that my original post was not clear. I was referring to connecting to the Internet on my laptop (could also be done on a desktop) using the BlackBerry as a tethered modem. I think most people got my meaning, but I just wanted to clarify that I was not talking about connecting to the Internet on the BlackBerry without a computer. This definitely seems like a better option than dial-up, especially for those of us who use laptops and aren't always near a phone jack.

It seems too easy to change IPs and run multiple ebay ID's through the Blackberry tether feature to my laptop. And the connection is fast. Every time I connect and disconnect using VZ access manager there is a new IP. And sometimes the IP changes while I am still connected. It just seems so easy I am afraid I am doing something wrong and going to lose all my hard work.
I am creating a seperate windows user for each eBay Stealth account. I am using CCleaner before and after switching to ebay different user / ebay account. I am reading I don't need to clear cookies with CCleaner between user accounts and that it is better to leave them, but again I am afraid of making a silly mistake, so erase every time. I am up to 3 accounts created this week and looking to get to 10 stealth accounts. I had a high volume low item price ebay business so am looking to recreate that discreetly.
Do I also need to clear my cache on the phone each time I log off? I am not technical but I don't know if tethering even puts anything into the phones internet cookies.
Please let me know if I am missing anything, thanks!

Cookies and flash objects are used for tracking purposes, and you don't want your accounts using the same cookies/flash objects, especially if you are logging into them back to back. I even go as far as to reset my phone IP between each user login.

SEVN- I was under the impression that in order to avoid linking, we must use separate user accounts. Are you saying I should be clearing cookies even when switching user accounts?
Also related to this topic- I use my iPhone and it's tethered internet connection. It works great- BUT BE AWARE- although we have an "unlimited" data contract with our service providers, there actually IS a limit as to how much data can be received/sent. So use this method sparingly or you could run into HUGE bills for over-usage.

No do not clear cookies and flash cookies when switching user accounts. That's the whole point of using user accounts, to keep the cookies separate and so you don't have to delete them each time.

Seven and all, I just want to clarify...
I am using different windows user accounts for each ebay ID, so do not clear my cookies and flash on the laptop connected to the blackberry.
As for the blackberry I have been clearing cookies on the phone in the internet connection area between accounts, but I am seeing that there are no cookies at all accumulating when I am tethered. The cookies remain at zero while I use the tethered laptop. Does this mean we are safe and I do not have to clear cookies on the blackberry between logging off and on? Or am I looking in the wrong area?
Also how do I change my phones IP address? I did not know of that and would love guidance.

I have a motoQ with alltel that I tether to my laptop & desktop for my ebay/paypal accounts been using it for months ever since I figured out I get close to cable speeds out of it. Alltel has true unlimited service but they just got bought out by Verizon so I think that will change soon but all in all I still think you get 2-5 gigs on their unlimited plans so it shouldn't really effect anyone using them for ebay. Also works good if you want to change up your location. I seem to come in with an Arkansas ip when I'm located in NC. On a plus side being that the provider is a cellular company I would assume there is some sort of understanding on ip / location not always matching up. So far I haven't had an issue using it anyway.

When using your phone as a tethered modem, your phone doesn't receive the cookies. The cookies are received by your browser. If you access eBay directly from your phone, the cookies are located on your phone. If tethering, the cookies are located on your laptop.

I personally have an unlimited data plan, but there are some hidden restrictions for the 3G service. Once I've used my monthly 3G bandwidth, I am redirected to Edge service. I only tether to pay eBay bills, withdraw money from PayPal, and do things that can only be done while logged directly into eBay. I use a 3rd party listing app to post to eBay, so I have never actually ran out of bandwidth.

I got the Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8530. Most of you probably know Sprint forces you to have a business account in order to use tethering. They told me I was not able to use it at all! Solution to this problem is using Tether for BlackBerry. I have read that it works on most or all BlackBerry's. I have been using it for about 3 days now and have never had the same IP address. It is also available for Android phones! Let me know what you guys think and if you have any issues.
