Don't you just hate it when a competitor...
 

Depresses prices by 40% below the last lowest price?!?! Was selling some used books, margins were pretty good, then some seller comes in and collapses the price like 40% ?!?!? I'm like, if you're going to be competitive how about lowering it a penny below you jack a**! They want to drive everyone including himsel/herself out of business?!?!?

If his inventory is fairly limited, might be wise to consider empirestate's idea and push him out....if his inventory is large, well...you better tackle him at the source level...

There's your problem. There are countless Chinese factories who do nothing but reproduce American school books.

Trying to compete with counterfeiters when you're selling the real thing is extremely difficult. Especially when your market is (broke) college kids. They're gonna take the cheaper option every time.

Back in the day, in college, ppl would just take a textbook to the photocopying shop and copy the fug out of it...

Check how many his selling, he may just be getting rid of excess stock. If that is the case, sooner or later he'll be gone, and sales are back to you.

Yea hated that too man but as everyone has said above hopefully he will run out of stock. Most people who drop prices that low are newer sellers and don't have a huge inventory from my experience. Just wait it out. If you have an account that has a high score or Top Rated then you may not have to compete with him. A lot of people will buy the higher priced item just because of your rating. Used school books may be a little different though as I don't have much experience in that market.

apparently there was a big scam where people would post used books then dropship a rented book
