Default Additional Verification Step

I have 2 eBay accounts, 1 USA (2007) with my parent's address, 1 here in Thailand (2009). Both use the same USA paypal account (with ATM card) but different email addresses. I mostly use the Thailand for selling, but today after 6 months shelf life, I fired up the USA account and tried to list an auction. It came back with the following:

Attention!

To further enhance a safe trading environment, we require users who registered on overseas eBay sites or who modify their registration information to an overseas location to go through an additional verification step. You will need to provide eBay with further information to verify your registration information. Please contact Customer Service for detailed information.

Thanks for your cooperation
.
eBay's email address: crossbordermvcn@ebay.com

I haven't changed any registration info, so not sure what triggered this, but I can't list on my USA account. I keep 2 browsers so cookies don't get crossed. After that message I thought maybe its my Thailand IP address so I connected to eBay through my VPS server in USA and the message still shows up.

I emailed them just now from the email account on the USA account asking them to look into things. Now I wonder if this was a mistake. Anyone have experience with the above message when trying to list? Thanks for ideas or suggestions.

It probably was your Thai ip that got you flagged. Once flagged, you're flagged. You don't fix that by switching ips. Actually that will just make matters worse.
Especially if you did a few minutes apart.

I setup the USA account while I was in the US back in 07. Moved to Thailand and have been using with a Thai IP to sell, never had an issue until yesterday.

Its been over 24 hours, and I haven't heard anything back from eBay so it still is requiring some kind of registration verification I think. I like the account, great username with 100 percent feedback, domain name all setup, otherwise I would just blow it off.

Do the members here recommend I continue to contact eBay and try to get this resolved or could this lead into getting my Thai ebay account in trouble?
Ideas or Recommendation appreciated.

Does anyone know how to contact eBay, I sent an email to the email address they specified and have not received any reply.

This account is worth keeping I don't want to blow it off. Thanks for ideas or suggestions

There's a list of ebay telephone numbers somewhere here. Can't promise you'll get past the automated prompts, but you can give it a shot.

They want a document from each group. Would you take the following having three groups or two?

Group One - Evidence of Identity
Group Two - Evidence of Address
Evidence of Item Location

Is 'Evidence of Item Location' the third Group or is it part of Group Two?

I have a drivers license with my home address, but do not have utilities or credit card statements, but would be able to buy something and provide the eBay shipping receipt which should be ok if Evidence of Item Location is part of Group Two.

Will set my browser to tunnel through my USA server when sending these docs, will this fly ?

Do you think I am going about this wrong? I just noticed they are looking for proof of overseas address. So, the IP must have triggered this after shelving the account for 6 months since I used to sell from here in Bangkok without issue before.

Maybe I just need to tunnel from my USA server and send them an email that I was traveling, along with my US driver's license and a purchase today with item being sent to my US shipping address ? I don't want then to convert this to a Thai eBay account I have a couple of those already. Thanks for any suggestions.

Except they have scads of Thai ips in their logs attached to your US account. So lying is not in your best interest here.

hi Huski

I have exactly this problem, I am registered on ebay.co.uk but am living in thailand and selling from here. I got that attention message recently as well, i think its because of the thai ip address. After finally contacting them i was told that i need to change my registered address to thailand, but i dont want to do this as then thailand will appear on my ebay account which will put buyers off.

This problem started when i stopped using auctiva so i am thinking that when i was listing through auctiva the thai ip address wasnt recognized as the listing was coming from the auctiva website. Maybe i am wrong with this and it could be coincidential that ebay started clamping down on this at the same time i stopped using auctiva.

so i made a new uk ebay account (got a friend in the uk to set it up, for ip purposes) and i used a website that gives u a uk ip for a small fee when using it here in thailand, anyway the moment i listed on my new account it got limited (that '⊗⊗⊗⊗' ip was obviously flagged automatically)

that has now been resolved but i am reluctant to use the account. I am thinking of just going back to auctiva and listing that way. Has anyone found a solution yet ?

The trigger is that your computer is not recognized through cookies, probably because there are no cookies present. So eBay thinks that you're someone from Asia that stole/hacked a US account and is trying to use it.

You can run a US account from Asia, but you need to keep the cookies that you used when creating the account.

I'd only suggest ONE to ONE ratio here but TWO to ONE is allowed by eBay rules.

The issue was nothing to do with Cookies, it was due to Thai IP's being used whilst items were listed with their location as the UK.

Did you manage to get the accounts running ok again?
